It was a blank spot before I got there and now I think I have fixed at least most of the roads. Now it needs people with local knowledge to add street names and POIs.
My work here is done.

I think I managed to map all the roads using the Bing images. The images are a bit foggy, but the road network is very straight so it easy. The rest of the mapping needs local knowledge and/or on-ground mapping. Now for a new challenge.

Jörgen Städje (känd från IDG) har skrivit en recension av MapDroyd där även OSm naturligtvis nämns på http://blogg.idg.se/realistklubben/2012/01/12/mapdroyd-%E2%80%93-the-bare-necessities/
Who forgot to turn off the water?
I mapped the new exit at Kista from E4.
Kymlingelänken will soon by the new E18 so there are some re-routings done. I've mapped it in one direction, but need to fix the other as well.
I have worked on the Bing images and sometimes you find things you can't quite make out what it is. At http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=56.21111&lon=21.15347&zoom=16&layers=M I think it's some kind of racetrack in the middle of nowhere.
At http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=56.15369&lon=21.13021&zoom=15&layers=M there is a grid pattern of roads. I think they might be logging roads.
What is it at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=56.47042&lon=21.00979&zoom=16&layers=M ? Alottment gardens? It might also be one at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=56.52087&lon=21.08109&zoom=16&layers=M
The result of the mini mapping party in Lyrestad was a few added streets. There is plenty more to add. I found an additional football field and a ski slope I didn't have time to map.
I have also a slight problem. There is a track that is circular and as you can see it shows up as an area on the map.
The main roads at Saldus looked very weird and unfinished so I took a look and there was some good GPS traces that I could use to make the road better.
I wonder why some people seem to just uploads traces and then do nothing with them. There are also some odd points with no tags near Saldus. They are arranged in a large circle. What is that?
When editing my trace logs for Latvia I noticed that Kuldīga already has a lot of roads traced and that they just need some tagging.
If you know the town you can get some really good results with little effort.
This weekend I visited the Zvērā Festival in Latvia. I saw a lot of bands and generally had a good time. I also had some time to go sightseeing in both Riga and Ventspils. Of course I also made a few logs of various roads. I also manager to get a few traces of the ferry lines Stockholm-Riga and Ventspils-Nynäshamn and I have some advice for people wanting to do such traces.
* Get a cabin with a window. That way you don't have to hang around in the bar all night.
* Use a logger connected to net power. That way you don't get into problems because the battery of your GPS receiver runs out.
Before the trip I looked at the mapping status of Latvia and noticed that Riga and Ventspils is well mapped, but Liepaja still needs some work, but Latvia seems to be getting along nicely. When I checked earlier a lot of info was missing that is now fixed.
Well, not exactly a mapping party, but I think I managed to get most of the central parts just driving around a bit.
I also got the road going from Lyrestad to Norrkvarn. There are lot of bike roads missing so I think I'll gave to take a bike the next time.
So, I have received my new (bought used) GPS unit. It's a Mio Digiwalker 168. It came with an 512 MB SD card, but I will upgrade it with a 2 GB card. That should be able to hold quite some tracks as well as maps.
I have managed to make traces and upload them to OpenStreetMap. Looks good.
