Google shut down it’s Map Maker. They keep out their community until the algorithms recognize symbols with androids pissing on apples ;-) What, if they do something else on a window?
Please feed your blogs and social media with this information in a polite and decent way. Maybe we can attract more mapping enthusiasts as contributors to OpenStreetMap !

Google say the shut down is due to vandalism. Think OSM can do without that kind of ‘help’.
Google say they won’t open it up until they can deal with the input without creating a large backlog.

For me it shows that the solution of letting people help and then check what they’ve done doesn’t work. You gotta have a true open project like OSM or just pay people to build the map following the company rules.

Hi Linhares. good thinking, i agree. Hi Warin61, yes, vandalism … it is sad. But i guess there had been softer solutions ;-)
