Follow-up to my last entry, which was asking about bikes. I bought a Giant CRS 3.0 after a couple of recommendations.
It's a nice bike. Very easy to ride compared with my last one, Unfortunately I've only had to use it for commuting a total of 4 times as I've been laid-off from work (company was/is not making money, so basically cost cutting).
I do have a bit more time to go out mapping now so once the summer season starts to calm down I should be out finishing Shrewsbury coverage. It'll be nice to get out on the bike a bit.
In other news I've just passed my driving test but having no income means I'm not able to purchase a vehicle. Never mind, eh...

Bad luck about the layoff mate. My girlfriend was recently laid off and is having heaps of trouble finding work so good luck.
On the upside you now have a great opportunity to do training so that your cheap carbon neutral transport can become a big part of your life :).

Ugh - bad luck. Still, knowing about OSM is rapidly becoming a marketable skill, albeit a very niche one...
Anna and I are doing NCN81 west from Shrewsbury this weekend, but it still needs someone to head east!

Thanks. I've not done much cycling since but did 9.5 miles the other day no trouble at all (except the hill, which I gave up on).
How was the bike ride?
Just got back from Birmingham still holding a valid return ticket. May well do NCN81 to one of the stations (Wolverhampton if I can manage it) and get the train back to Shrewsbury...
