sorry, my bad. Yes, I was there yesterday. I drove around Altenahr: Altenburger Straße, Brückenstraße, Roßberg, Tunnelstraße etc. The buildings were more like a follow-up edit at home where I saw some room for improvement here and there but switched back to JOSM after longer time on iD editor and satellite imagery presets by default are different there so I may used an outdated one (which looked still "new" because it was after the flood).

someone opened a note regarding the parking at Pützchens Markt that you mapped 3 months ago: note/5522892. Maybe you can have a look at it and solve it.

Just my two cents (independent from the note): the parking spaces are mapped as duplicates: as area/outline and as a point object. I would remove the point objects because we try to avoid duplicates and area mapping is more precise than just a note. Also, the name tag should not be used for descriptions.

I know that one should keep the history, this is a rule in the Good practice page at OSM wiki, I know that page. I also keep the history most of the time and use Lifecycle prefix.

I don’t know why you specifically only notice these "bad" changes by me (happened again a month ago), maybe because you used OSMCha which marks this CS as supect for whatever reason (which is weird because I know that algorithms usually check for changesets with only deletions, but here it is delete and add, which is normal). This always looks like other mappers control me and puts a bad light on me because I also do a lot of great edits (where I kept the history) and only the "discussable" ones are getting noticed, and this happens more often recently than in the past where nobody cared even when I was a beginner and probably made much more mistakes compared to now :(

However, I would like to agree to you but I also got into trouble with another mapper who said that I should not keep the old "junk" (aka closed shops) because this clutters the database and we don't need them anymore. Seems like there are multiple opinions on that. I don't want to get into the middle of both opinions.

Usually I use the Lifecycle prefix and/or keep the history. I definitely "recycle" the same node and keep the history if some "equal" POI gets at the same place in the same rooms, e.g. "Bäckerei Kamps" closes and "Bäckerei Kleins" opens. But here, these were different objects. A former bistro and now a pastry shop. This does not really belong together so I was tending more to a delete. That is how I did it until now.
I can keep the history from now on for every object/edit in the future but if I will ever get a complaint by another mapper again who gets annoyed by all the "dead" objects I will bring you to together ;)

I have a question: do we have public information about how often "big data consumers" (do you know some names? Like Microsoft (for Bing Maps), Apple, CoMaps etc.) pull our OSM data for their map applications? So I mean their polling interval in weeks/days/minutes? What I want to say is, I would like to revert my edit since you convinced me with the decision at the OSM Konferenz in Goettingen. Whether it is quick enough if I revert my edit this evening so that only a few data consumers are affected/no big damage is done.

Thanks for the info. Actually, there are not really a lot of active mappers here in the Eifel region. I am more or less one of the only ones who is (regularly) active (and actually cares about these things, so not casually mapping here and there and forgetting about stuff), so don’t worry, I will not forget it and already set a reminder 👍. My real experience is that notes stayed open for years in this region and nobody cared. So I will probably be the only one again doing something with the info from a note anyway, that’s why I was confident in closing it. Would be a different story in big cities with a lot of mappers, but yeah, I get your mindset with teamwork.

I heard about the rule that short blocks should not be entered, but had no official guideline what exact timeframe is OK, now I have one, thanks (3 months).

By the way, I am very surprised how and why me and my small edit came to your attention. You are from Ostwestfalen-Lippe, right? How do you monitor such things, away from your homebase? This must be a tool/bot/script or something? I am feeling a bit like in a police control I gotta say 😅

you are once again too quick/over-enthusiastic 😅. As I said in the note, I was actually walking/on the ground, when I did this first quick-and-dirty edit with just my smartphone in my hands and tags that I know by heart without taking a further look in the wiki what could fit best. A correct refinement will come later when I'm back at my PC. Well, here I am. FYI, the "Klosterladen" is not at nr 3 anymore (where the note was). At that place, there is nothing anymore/only windows. It moved to the "Klostergärtnerei" in the same building, they now share one big sales area. The Klosterladen part is more at the beginning at the door, the Klostergärtnerei more at the left and further part of the building/outside. I moved everything accordingly. Regarding the tags: Yes, kiosk is wrong. I now tried "interior_decoration". There are mostly flower vases/pots/design stuff. If you have a better idea, just change it. I could also imagine "farm" or "convenience" (not really, but OSM Wiki says "Nachbarschaftsladen").

I know that the IQD is much bigger. I added the websites to the project as you may have seen, so I already know the plans, how big the whole site actually is.

My mapping style maybe is just different. I just try to solve the actual issue of a note, not more than that. And that note by user "tordans" mentioned only a part of that project. For me, this note is solved then after my edit. But don't assume that I don't have the "big picture" in mind. For such a big site, I like to use the "fixme" tag and a big "landuse=construction" area, where it should be obvious that multiple separate tasks/todos could evolve here. I also planned a trip to Düren to visit your note note/5410504 plus add much more stuff, but you were quicker ;)

Regarding the websites: I know that the semicolon is a divider for multiple values, but I've seen problems with some services/websites that can not interpret that correctly. Since we have multiple tags for websites ("url", "website", "contact:website") my best try is to spread the websites over these different tags.

to be fair, I am no expert and also just had a look at the Wiki. But you are totally right. "simple maxstay duration" => use maxstay. "complex parking duration with exceptions etc." => use maxstay:conditional. I corrected my wrong edits

I ignored nothing. JOSM showed no errors before uploading. I was checking OSM Inspector aswell directly after my edits. but seems that I was too quick and data was not up to date and now errors are shown. The only thing I did besides creating new boundaries was to split up existing boundaries at the intersection points. I know that they can be part from other relations. But JOSM usually keeps both of them in existing relations so nothing should break.

Hello, the street K58 between Harzheim and Eiserfey should have long been finished in autumn 2025. That was delayed to end of 2025. Now it is 2026 and you even extend it. Do you have more information which parts of the K58 are finished and when everything is finally done? I found no update on the website of Stadt Mechernich. Aah! OK, that's understandable and easy. You don't have to manipulate the old "farmland track" to Zülpich Industriegebiet. The reason lies in the street from Nemmenich. Someone who mapped this before us did connect both ends at separate joints on L162. This is not "usual". I did it the "right way" and joined themn together in the middle. This should resolve your routing (could take a few days).

I closed the note so we discuss here. I honestly don't know what was wrong before. I think now it is even more wrong. You created two separate ways at the crossing, but in real life I cannot see a divider between the two lanes. So one lane like before was correct.

That's wrong. There is a speed limit sign of 70 before the junction to Heimerzheim to reduce speed at the crossing area. And there is no annulment sign to 100 because of rural area after that, in fact there is just another 70 sign. After that, there are another 70 signs (even 2 on both sides). And then there is a speed camera at the bridge of A61. I mapped everything and reworked mistakes in the whole area. So you were definitely completely wrong.
