Dear testooools (Mapper), Regarding the Open-Street-Map Request, Congratulations! we have approved the usage on your behalf using our APIs only for open source usage, Can’t be used for commercial use or any kind of using else open-source projects Specifically Open-Street-Map.

Hello, I have contacted open street map members and they said the license can’t be used because the osm data is used by everyone even for commercial use! So if I integrated Kira data on top of open street maps some commercial companies will use this as it is open source to everyone. Please can you explain if that’s a case considered in my permission or not and how?

Your concerns are in their place Actually, we are more than happy to confirm that: You can use your key for open street maps directly any effect follow this action will be (valid and approved by us forever and ever) as I mentioned earlier Open street maps are open source you can use our data on it and no worries about any outsider use. Could you explain a bit the context? It seems it’s a reply to a message requesting permission to use their satellite images. So Kira Maps gave permission to use them in a open source context except commercial? That’s not open source. We could call that CC-BY-NC at most (non-free). They gave the permission but we can’t accept it, because OSM data can be used for commercial purposes.

Open source is open to everyone, They say I can use it for open-source, What they said I can’t use it directly to a commercial smart guy But why would I even give a shit never mind and don’t accept anything like what would I damn care community trying to smart out everything with a big nose

Hi, lalolan response was to help you, Kira, and the community. Kira doesn’t want to share its data with commercial users and that’s their right. OSM allows commercial users. Integrating data against the producer’s (Kira) would be harmful to everyone.
We understand that you are willing to help OSM with that data, but sadly this way seems not possible at this moment.
Maybe you could explain that as a lot of opensource projects, OSM do allow commercial use, and ask them to allow it too ?

Hi testooools, gilery is all right (thank you). I dint’ said you don’t care, although I should have said “please, if you can” explain me better the situation here to figure out what’s happening to help you (none of us know everything about OpenStreetMap, tags, all OSM data, laws around the word… so we help each other if we can).
I really, really, really, really hate give this “bad news” to others saying you/we can’t use that source because it’s not compatible with OpenStreetMap license, even CC-BY license is not compatible (I always thought it was, but technically, it’s not, I leave that to lawyers). We, me and you included, as it seems, want to help OpenStreetMap and make a better map, open to everyone, but please understand one thing: if just one of us import data illegally, sooner or later (later is really the worst scenario) that data will be removed because someone (OSM user or worst, a lawyer) found it. And if others added data above the illegal data, ALL that information will be deleted, because they added data above that illegal data. So this situation is really a disaster. The work of others will go to the “garbage”.
I hope you understand, I don’t have anything against you (why I would?), I thank you for helping adding data in OpenStreetMap. If this subject depended only by me, all data in the world would be open source, at least all governments public data.

I feel really ashamed of what happened yesterday I was on edge and so angry I tried so hard to get permission that’s why I’m so so so sorry for what I have said I shouldn’t do that really..!
I will talk to them again and make them explain if I can use it on top of osm as some commercial will be used not directly but indirectly sorry please forgive me for being childish and angry

Hello, that’s wonderful, thank you ! I would suggest putting this authorization in the wiki, it’s best suited for such things. I can do that myself if you are not familiar with the wiki.
However I’m still unsure as to what is in those map tiles, their company is about (their website seems down), and I couldn’t use the imagery mentionned in your changesets; the key seems revoked.
Maybe you could also add an example screenshot of the map tiles and the process to obtain access to them for other mappers ?

Thank you for the encouraging i think the API endpoints are per IP address I have access for auto complete names and imagery and i guess geometries too I hope you can do the wiki thing i have no idea how to be honest.. <3 and for using it you should ask them for the permission
