Hi Ivan, we're trying to demonstrate how OSM can link to cultural resources, which are of great importance to the endangered language and culture of Wales. Having a full link makes it a LOT easier for creating the demo uMaps to advocate for the project, but I recognise that the punctuation corrupts the URL. Presumably this is why apps struggle with it, and we can't and shouldn't change the titles to suit, as that would corrupt our language! Thanks for your help on this. We will follow the guidance, but wanted to explain what we are doing. Also, we are working with wikimedia in Wales on this. We shall also add "historical image" to media, in order to make that clearer.

By the way, I did anything but ignore the message and spent many hours trying to track down these comments. To no avail.

Thanks,

Rupert

Ah yes, Andy,

I have found the problem, and will correct it.

Thanks for your help,

Rupert

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the message. I've opened up a topic here: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/policy-on-accented-road-placenames-specifically-welsh/72145/3
But I can't understand how to get a reponse, and Frederik mentions that 'I have ignored messages', so it seems I am missing a platform or there are some other crossed wires. Any ideas?
Meanwhile, I'll have a look at this edit here, where perhaps my JOSM crashed halfway through an edit(?). 17514 is for adding placenames to buildings from local knowledge and Historic maps. I have spoken with CJ about this project, which is extremely important/valuable to our local community. You can see some notes on the osm.wiki. organised editing:

Hi Phil,
Thanks for this. See other message. Bit of guidance: Woodpeck has been seeing a lot of issues with edits here, and I'm not sure what pleatform messages are being sent on. Forst I knew was a ban. I'm struggling to understand how the message platforms work, and can't see how to see changeset comments more than this type of one from you.

@ceirios, we intend to add placenames as we go along, and need the building shapes to navigate wehn surveying.
We would welcome your advice, and are keen to collaborate with you as a local. Please be in touch. Thanks

Thanks for this. All edits will undergo a validation process, but I shall go and see the exact status of that track shortly, in person. I have undcerstood the convention in Wales to be name=[welsh/local name], name:en=[name in English]. That would be in keeping with the cultural norms/ethical requirements here in Wales. The project is a language project. It is specifically naming local places where possible. I can take off individual hashtags is desired, and apologies if this is inappropriate.

Hi Phil, This track is still there, and features on the old maps (Bartholemews 1940s-1960s) of the estate. There are historic walk routes here, and once Ive bee over there in the nexct few days (it's in my village), I'll re-survey it, as I haven't been there in a few years, to be fair.
The Hafod Estate walks are of archaeological significance, and certain routes are important to denote for preservingf of village traditions (I have local funding to preserve these original walks as part of local culture).
This is an area of specialism I trained in, specifically here, and I'm aware of the critical scholarship of this area. Any suggestions on marking "ruined" footpaths very welcome. I shall get a GPX if you think that necessary.
Thanks so much for watching over the edits (and picking up the duplicate waterfall too - I thought I'd deleted the other one). Much appreciated.
Best,
Rupert

Ah yes. I changed it because it is not a road for cars, and the area is decimated by 4x4s, who see it as a challenge to there. Local community (me included) are outragfed that this is happening, and I wanted to demonstrate that some careful tagging could help them, and that OpenStreetMap participation was good for them. Obvs, I was not careful enough! "foot"="yes" does just the job.
I'd have to check if it is actually a 'private' road (local families/farmers), but is there something else I could do to deter motorvehicles in this beauty spot? There are terrible mages showing the complete destruction of natural environment here.

Best,

Rupert

Thanks Phil,
Much appreciated - good to get your guidance here. I can't remember when I made that edit, but I'll use the example elsewhere now. I've also learned the 'segregated' conventions, and am trying to train mappers here in the area to do the same.
Thanks for the feedback,

Diolch o'r galon!

Hi Yahyya, You need to map the individual buildings here. Thanks
