The government of Canada has made available some data that is in a format fit to upload to OSM. I have decided to start uploading around GP AB and then expanding out to all of Northern Alberta, and then maybe all of Alberta. We’ll see how this goes…

Best of luck. You may find that the imported data overlaps over user added data.
Only thing I noticed with Canvec is that some of the railway data can be off.

I have noticed that you have been deleting your own previous edits to “make way” for Canvec data. There is no guarantee that the Canvec data will be better. Please do not mass-delete other contributors’ contributions (I am sure you wouldn’t). Data added by people who know the area is usually better than anything imported. If you want to import data, it is your responsibility to carefully integrate it with what is already there - not rip and replace!

Thanks guys. I am being very careful to add to OSM and make it a better map than it already is.
