Posted by c tito young on 12 February 2024 in English.

What appears are two separate man-made geoglyphs, 300m x 500m (human) and 200m x 200m (bull), of what appears to be etched on a gently graded terrain is a human and a bull oriented north to south. The two figures is targeted with several concentrically oriented Nazca lines.

14°47′38″S, 75°4′15″W -14.7940031, -75.0709680 Nazca, Province of Nasca, Ica, 11401, Peru

The figures suggest a man-made geoglyph of a human being chased by a bull which appears to be in pursuit of him It is very unclear why the bear is chasing him. The man appears to be carrying a blanket, wearing lose fitting outfit and wearing shoes. The bull behind him has long pointy horns and appears to be drawn as if he is chasing him.

Awaiting better mapping to confirm additional linework.

Along with the inhabitants, bulls have been recorded in these local areas.

A large geoglyph 100m x 50m owl head that seemingly appears etched on a moderately sloped terrain oriented north to south. This animal feature depiction shows an owl with a smallish beak and large eyes. This figure is amongst several other geoglyphs in the immediate area.

14°42′23″S, 75°8′16″W -14.7064237, -75.1376485 El Ingenio, Province of Nasca, Ica, Peru

It may be suggested that the geoglyph at this location might be of a forward facing owl having its right sided wing spread and the other tucked near its body as if it has already caught its prey. The owl’s head also suggests feathering along its sides.

Under the owl there is also some evidence of other shaped carvings. It might be suggested that this owl might be perched on a rock or tree-branch. Awaiting better mapping to confirm additional linework.

There are at least 32 species of night birds in Peru of which two are endemic to a specific region. This drawn bird could possibly be a tiny species called the Long-whiskered Owlet recently discovered in 1976 or the Striped Owl both well known in the region.

The drawing suggests by the location of where the figure’s spear being beyond and above his throwing hand, that he may be using a Peruvian Atlatl. This clever device, using a grip piece and hook, allows better speed and accuracy in throwing. By the suggested position of the figures body, the thrower is appearing to be at where the forward motion of the spear throw is captured.

A 20m wide x 500m long oriented northeast to southwest is a trapezoid geoglyph which appears to also have multiple 1m diameter concave holes or convex dome similar sized varying shapes appear to be in a loosely fit grid formation towards its narrowing tip. It is difficult to tell exactly the purpose of the circular shapes but they cover about 1/3 of the entire trapezoid and there are over 50 of them. The remainder of the trapezoid has other unsorted shapes that the aerial images do not detail making it difficult to trace. The trapezoid is on relatively flat land and lay 400m south of a greater cluster of trapezoid shapes and geoglyph lines. The base of the trapezoid has an interesting smaller trapezoid 25m wide x 75m long that is not clear why that purpose.

Geoglyph of Two Stacked Heads

Posted by c tito young on 31 March 2021 in English. Last updated on 10 April 2021.

Two geoglyph heads appear to be stacked one on top of the other on moderately sloped land. The bottom head is 25m x 25m and the top head significantly smaller 5m x 5m, oriented north to south. Both heads seem to suggest having bodies but they are hard to read at this time. Both heads look in the forward direction. It is unclear why they were created or what they are doing there.
The bottom head suggests that its body seems to have a bent arm, torso and two legs, though very short and stubby, they do appear there. The upper head, being smaller seems to have a smaller body and is unclear if the head is resting on a hat the of the bottom head. It might be suggested the top head is of a monkey.
