I'll definitely keep that in mind, thanks. Your correction looks good to me. Cheers.

Thanks for letting me know. I admit not being aware of this licensing issue. I have been using Wikipedia as a source to double check information before upload. I won't do it anymore. Thanks.

Hi Warin61. I guess, I wasn't very clear with my source tag. I didn't import any data from Wikipedia, the multipolygon was an original creation, roughly mapping my basic knowledge of the Great Sandy Strait. I actually only used Wikipedia to double check the spelling. I should have mapped with the tag "source=local knowledge" at that time I suppose, my bad. I have spent quite a long time mapping the straits, none of it which was imported from anywhere. It'd be a real shame to see this relation deleted.

Yes, maybe. He seems to have stopped editing for the past 3 months though.

Oh I see. I don't have time to check Admiralty station now.

I'm not sure what that means but cantor34 has a very unusual activity with a huge amount of edits, throughout the world, and in a very short time.

Done. Not sure what you mean by "merge the relations at Admiralty station" though.

@jc86035 There is a tagging guideline for Hong Kong MTR station (osm.wiki/Zh-hant:Hong_Kong_tagging#.E9.90.B5.E8.B7.AF_Railway) which seems to match the general conventions (osm.wiki/Railway_stations#Building). My understanding of it is the concourse outline should be mapped with both railway=station and
building=train_station.

I would say it is rather important to avoid having railway=station duplicates as it is the case with many stations in Hong Kong, where both one node and the concourse way use the tag railway=station. As shown in this diagram osm.wiki/Railway_stations#Overview there is only one railway=station object, either a node or an area.

I'm not sure why Sai Ying Pun station renders above the buildings. The tag layer=-3 should prevent that. I don't know what's going on here. But in any case "don't tag for the renderer" (osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer).

I'm not sure if highway=footway would be correct for concourses as it will imply that one can walk anywhere within that area. But these areas includes shops and the entire platform outline but we can't physically walk all around the platform and on the tracks. But I might be wrong. Having all the foot ways (either with as ways or areas), escalators, travelators and lifts would be really nice for sure. But seems like a lot of fairly complex work that could easily be broken by any non-expert mapper. I'll leave that to others and would rather focus on station outlines and entrance for now.

Hi there. I don't understand why removing the public_transport=station railway=station station=subway and subway=yes from the station building (way/248971549) and then creating a new node (node/5444471176). It seems like there was a nice mapping of the station area but all that fine detail is now lost in favor of a single node. The documentation (osm.wiki/Railway_stations) mention "a node OR a polygon" but it seems like now both are mapped. Should we go back to having just the building as a station and delete that node?

Hi ZIV OSM,

May I know where you source this data from? I can't find anything about "Lantau Island Marine Reserve", and "Southwest Lantau Marine Park" seems to be only at proposal as of today. https://www.afcd.gov.hk/english/country/cou_vis/cou_vis_mar/cou_vis_mar_wha/gazette_doc.html

Thanks for your help,

Hi Free gems 8,

It seems like you accidentally merge Unicorn Ridge together with Hong Kong. Sorry, I just reverted your edit to make sure that both features stay present on the map.

Please let me know if there's any problem with the revert.

Best,

Freayd

Hi,

Please tag service areas (服务区) with highway=services and not amenity=public_building building=yes. Rest areas (停车区) should be tagged with highway=rest_area

You can refer to the documentation for more information highway=services

Thank you.

As per documentation, a service area "usually consist of, at minimum, a petrol station, parking facilities, a place to eat and some public toilets". Hansens Holz lacking the petrol station, I think it should be tagged as a rest area, IMHO.

highway=services

51761844 almost 8 years ago

Hi manpro,

As per the wiki documentation, this is a service area. Rest areas offer no services and are generally no more than a parking place with toilets. On the other hand, service areas usually have some kind of restaurant, shop, petrol station and other varied amenities.

Raststätte Wetterau offer this kind of services and therefore, IMHO, should be tagged as a service area. Please let me know if you think otherwise. You can find more information on the documentation: osm.wiki/DE:Tag:highway%3Dservices

Perfect, thanks mate. No doubt you're doing a great job! No worries, we're all learning here. And sorry for the trouble.

51657302 over 8 years ago

Hey mate. Thanks for your comment. Please let's not engage into an edit war and discuss about this before any further modification. The main point of my changeset is that the data currently mapped is unusable. Routing software cannot find a way through the A1. I'm not able to verify the current situation by surveying on the ground, so I based my edit on the LPI NSW Base Map and the fact that the Kundabung to Kempsey project is not finished yet.

Whenever you leave a construction tag, such as construction=motorway combined with highway=trunk, the road won't be used by routing apps (at least some of them). Either use both construction=* and highway=construction if under construction or only highway=* if the construction is finished.

This is what the default routing engine does, diverting cars towards Crescent Head and through Port Macquarie: osm.org/directions?engine=osrm_car&route=-31.1228%2C152.8288%3B-31.4672%2C152.8195

Thanks for all your work by the way! Cheers.

Hi Travo656. Sorry mate but I reverted the ways you changed to highway=trunk. As nevw mentioned, the rules for choosing a highway value are described on the wiki under Australian Tagging Guidelines. In Proserpine, only the A1 is a trunk. Apart from that, keep up the good work! Cheers.

Hi. Thanks for your comment, I already noticed the issue last time. I surveyed the ground once more. It should be fixed with the changeset/50582298.
