aerowest (www.aerowest.de), a company offering areals and geo-related services, has provided OSM with high-resolution pictures of Dortmund (1px = 5 cm) for an evaluation project.

While mappers in Dortmund can correct and extend the map, including especially housenumbers, aerowest is interested to see, if they can profit from such a partnership. Especially the company would like to evaluate if housenumbers and addresses are of higher quality than the commercial offerings.

See Dortmund homepage for more info (most still in German yet).

Yes, exciting news! I wish they would have used Hamburg, then I could contribute. :-)

This is definitely NOT spam. Have a look at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Luftbilder_aus_Dortmund

If SPAM nowadays makes you help us ;-) No - take a look, the aerials are great!

Sincere apologies! I was very tired and my brain was not working.

Indeed this is impressive! Apologies once again. The amount of spam in the diaries lately has really got on my nerves. The name of the company quickly followed by the link, coupled with my extreme tiredness caused the knee-jerk reaction. This is no excuse - I should have read your post properly.

I hope the company likes the results of their evaluation and that this is the start of something good.
