@GerdP changed it to demolished in the end. Based on the renovation project there will be a pedestrian area at the site.

@GerdP I'm tempted to set it to demolished:highway=secondary since it is unlikely to return in the former state.

That was a typo as I used in_service=no instead of highway=closed.
