I'm guessing that "Cat Forest" etc. are just some data from an OSM tutorial that got uploaded by mistake - can you remember which one it might have been?

Would "shop=yes" perhaps have made sense on way/173442291/history ?

Unfortunately "Google Street View" isn't licence-compatible with OpenStreetMap - could you perhaps go and check that the name of way/198571893/history really is "Grove Lane"?

Thanks - that's exactly the sort of information we need!

Hi - I think that something went a bit wrong with relation/3353788/history here. It's now called "Cemetry" - I presume that you were actually trying to name a cemetery somewhere else?

If there's anything I can help with, please don't hesitate to let me know.

way/147941566/history was formerly a track but was changed to bridleway a couple of weeks ago; is that correct? It's already a "designation=public_bridleway".

A general comment - if you're extracting data from somewhere where data is continually being added and deleted, and you need to change the way that it's labelled to support the way that you're extracting it, you're probably Doing It Wrong. The problem with that approach is that people will not see the benefit of the extra labels that you're adding, and will not add them to new things that would otherwise qualify, and will remove them from old things. Hence my suggestion to ask at the help site for best practice.

Unfortunately way/324359481 still doesn't _quite_ join West Street. You can see by looking at that "browse" page - the first node says "part of ways" but the last node doesn't.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

I noticed that you added a couple of roadside footpaths here, including way/324560443 . That's not connected to anything, so routers etc. will never be able to find it. If it is just a footpath at the side of the road (as suggested by the imagery) then the normal way to add that to OSM would be to add "sidewalk=left", "sidewalk=right" or "sidewalk=both" depending on which side(s) of the road there's a footpath

Anyway, hope you don't mind me mentioning this - just trying to help. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers, Andy

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Thanks for adding these footpaths to OpenStreetMap (there aren't many local mappers in this part of the world). However, in order that people who are routing between roads and other footpaths can use them, you'll need to join then at each end. The easiest way is probably to click on the end node of a footpath (which will start extending it) then click on the road that you want to join it to, then press return to finish drawing).

Anyway, hope you dont' mind me mentioning this - just trying to help.

Cheers,
Andy

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Presumably way/235892533 isn't all building, but instead it's the area within which there is a supermarket building (and car park, and other bits and pieces)? If so, it would make sense to have a go at drawing the buildings in separately and removing "building=yes" from way/235892533 . Also, there's a bit of a dogleg at the south end, which is partly caused by the supermarket sharing nodes with the road. It's actually easier to not have landuse sharing nodes with roads (see way/51511086 next door).

Anyway, hope you don't mind me mentioning this - just trying to help.

Cheers - Andy.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

I notice that you've added an office building to OpenStreetMap:

node/3316697921

However, in order for things to know that it's a solicitors office, you're going to need t tag it as "office=something". "somthing" probably depends on whether you see yourself as a type of lawyer or not. This list of how things are tagged elsewhere in the UK may help:

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Thanks for adding some footpaths in Prescot - there aren't many local mappers there so people with local knowledge are really welcome.

However, it looks like way/324359481 doesn't actually join at either end. Footpaths and roads need to join in OSM if they do in real life so that if anyone is calculalating a route from A to B, they know that they can get from one to the other.

Anyway, hope you don't mind me mentioning this - just trying to help.

Cheers,
Andy

Hello and Welcome to OpenStreetMap!

I notice that you've added a couple of roads - way/324771788 and way/324771670 . However, these did already exist, so there are now two "old Park Road" and two "Old Park Avenue". Would you like me to delete the duplicates?

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Thanks for adding node/3312692661 , but currently it seems to be in the middle of the road? Is it actually north or south of the road (or is the road itself in the wrong place)?

28326144 almost 11 years ago

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

way/323621785 has a name and address, but no other sort of tag to help the rendering software that creates maps to say what it is. The part of it's that's building could have a "building" tag added - from the imagery it looks like there's also a service road into it to be mapped too.

Hope you don't mind me mentioning this - just trying to help.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

You've added node/3304949376 with a "name" tag but for anything to understand what it actually is in the map data you'll need to add some other sort of tag too - such as "building". Also, if the name isn't really "Stone Cottage built 1861" (but that's just a description of what it is) you don't need to make up a name for OSM.

Hi - just spotted that you've deleted the amenity=school way/141575080/history - just wondered if that was deliberate? There's a building=school within the area; is it no longer used as an actual school?

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

What actually is way/323676422 ? Is it a field boundary, or something within the field?

28314277 almost 11 years ago

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetmap!

I've just spotted way/190898036 here - I'm guessing from the imagery that it's a building of some sort? "building=yes" would do if nothing more definite was known. Also, does it really have a housename of "Empty"?

Anyway, I hope you don't mind me mentioning this - any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
