| 175129709 | 11 days ago | Good afternoon erickerr, I was curious as to why you added tunnel tags to the roads crossing below the rail bridges around Harrison, NJ. My understanding is that it's preferred to use either the tunnel or bridge tag on the respective way, but not both. Happy mapping,

| 132305059 | almost 3 years ago | Hello Spaghetti Monster, I know there's been some issues with the quality of edits made by golf mappers (and I can still see a good amount of things that could use cleaning here), but I fail to see what this edit is trying to correct. All I see is the deletion of some golf cart paths that, as far as I can tell, seem to still exist. Would you mind explaining what I missed that you are trying to clean up here? Best regards,

| 129476178 | about 3 years ago | Hello and welcome to OSM! I just wanted to give you a heads up that you made a couple tagging errors that could make it harder for maps to display the info you added. I went ahead and corrected this location for you, but if you plan on adding more Moe's locations, I wanted to pass along some advice. OSM's default editor has a bunch of major businesses built in, so searching for Moe's will automatically fill in the most important tags. Some tags you added not matching was likely the source of the warning in your changesets. To add forms of payment, the easiest way is to type "Payment Types" in the add field column. In the new field that comes up, type in the forms of payment and it will automatically split them into individual tags. Opening hours follow a very specific format. More info can be found on the wiki: opening%20hours=*?uselang=en If you have any more questions in the future, feel free to reach out to me. Additionally, the community on Slack and Discord is very helpful too. Happy mapping,

| 129339690 | about 3 years ago | Good evening InsectWhisperer, I was reviewing your changesets, and wanted to let you know that patios would not be included in the building area in these cases. If the patio was on the roof of part of the building, that would be an exception. If you enjoy micromapping little details like patios, we can find another thing to tag them as. After a quick peruse of the wiki, I think leisure=outdoor_seating; access=private would fit well. On a different note, I see a couple mistakes in some of your other changesets. I'll save you a few email notifications and list a few recommendations in this one comment. There's an easy way to square the corners of buildings, or any areas or ways for that matter. Select the entire object and press Q, or right click and select Square. Your corners are pretty close to 90ยบ, but this is a way simpler method. If it ever comes in handy in the future, pressing O or the right click menu can also make objects circular. A better way to map stop signs, traffic lights, yield signs, etc. is to place them on a node along the way for the street as opposed to alongside it. What you did isn't wrong, but makes it harder for computers to know for certain what road they belong to. You can also then use direction of travel on the road (based off the direction the OSM way points, look at the triangles at the midpoint between every node) instead of degrees to indicate direction. I've updated the stop sign mapping along Winfield Court in changeset/129349641 as an example of how I typically map them. Feel free to reach out if you ever run into more questions. Additionally, the community on Slack or Discord is always happy to help too. Happy mapping,

| 125373808 | about 3 years ago | Good afternoon Clay, I was wondering what sources you use to check for underpass clearances. Every single underpass on Branch Brook Park Drive is signed. |
| 127661422 | about 3 years ago | Hey there, Mapping a tunnel under a bridge is usually redundant according to the wiki. I had changed this crossing from a tunnel to a bridge as that's what I observed when I was at the station last week. I don't think this would qualify as a building passage either, though it feels a lot like one so I understand the confusion. Please let me know if you believe your imagery shows something different. - Brian |
| 126898092 | over 3 years ago | Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. It may be worth considering adding the missing section with a highway=construction tag for better clarity to prevent confusion of other mappers. I also wanted to double check that there are 2 exits from the roundabout leading to Morris Street eastbound. |
| 126898092 | over 3 years ago | Hey there, I haven't been over to Morristown since construction on this began, but that circle looks weird to me. Is a road missing, or is all westbound traffic from Morris Street redirected onto Spring Street? |
| 125867967 | over 3 years ago | Hey there, Are you sure these are Livingston addresses? I know the cities in addresses can be weird sometimes, but the apartment community is even called Avalon Roseland. |
| 125133065 | over 3 years ago | Just surveyed everything again to triple check, Mapillary is accurate at least in the shot linked above but is out of date further down the exit ramp. They signed the Arlington Ave bridge itself instead of just that warning on that exit sign, but OSM is already up-to-date. Feel free to reach out on Discord or Slack if you ever need an updated survey in the area - I commute up and down 280 everyday. |
| 125133065 | over 3 years ago | Good morning Clay, I interpreted that sign as saying exit 12A has a max height as there is a signed bridge of that height further down the ramp, not that this particular bridge is low. I believe low clearance signs typically have a down arrow pointing to the lane with low clearance below them, plus the clearance is within the exit sign instead of a separate sign. Let me know if you feel my reasoning is wrong. The max height is still tagged further down the exit under South Arlington Avenue, plus I added a max height to exit 12B, so I don't think I've created any urgent routing issues if you end up disagreeing with me on this. -Brian |
| 124947009 | over 3 years ago | Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I've noticed some of your changeset comments aren't very detailed to help other mappers understand what you're trying to improve at a glance. It would be greatly appreciated if you can follow the guidelines for changeset comments going forward: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments Additionally the names of roads and places should match the signage on the ground, not made up names describing where the road goes. Unless you have proof of the town naming the road very recently, "Pumphouse Road" is actually an unnamed service road. Going forward, making up names will be seen as vandalism. |
| 119956852 | over 3 years ago | I've noticed you added the Wikidata tag for the entire Morristown NHP (Q6914128) to Jockey Hollow, which has it's own page (Q6207554). Since the main relation for the whole NHP has the first Wikidata linked now, can you please update Jockey Hollow to the correct one? |
| 119841878 | almost 4 years ago | Hello, and welcome to OSM! Please note that opening hours must be input in a specific format. Using a standardized format allows your hours to be displayed properly across all maps. It would be much appreciated if you do not keep reverting other mappers attempting to correct this mistake. |
| 117661348 | almost 4 years ago | No boots on the ground anymore - I graduated a few years ago, but I still know the area like the back of my hand. I learned OSM by mapping BU, so I like to come back and further improve this area from time to time. |
| 117661348 | almost 4 years ago | Thanks for the quick response! This wasn't urgent, so you didn't need to prioritize this over your other projects. I just happened to notice the Pharmacy Campus hasn't even been mapped yet. I'll leave the nature preserves out of it for now to keep things simple. There's maybe an argument to add Nuthatch Hollow in the future though, as it's closed to the public and only used for research. I believe there's plans to one day open it for general recreation, not that those plans are moving very fast though. |
| 117661348 | almost 4 years ago | I just noticed the other 2 BU campuses aren't included within the university's boundaries. Would adding them together into a relation mess with the new boundary=census tag? Should the Nature Preserve and Nuthatch Hollow also be added? It might also be worth separating the Innovative Technologies Complex (the part east of Murray Hill Road) from the main campus while we're at it. |
| 118338350 | almost 4 years ago | I recently redownloaded Slack, still getting a feel for it. I don't think I can be much help in NYC either as I scarcely find myself that far east, and even less often do I drive there. I'm mostly familiar with northern Jersey, Greater Binghamton, and the highways in between them. But I think those areas alone have more than enough things to improve to keep me busy for quite a while. Once I get a bit more comfortable with classifications, hopefully I'll be able to lend more of a hand. Thanks for those resources! |
| 118338350 | almost 4 years ago | I see, they did a bunch of road reclassifications in the Binghamton area this year. When I was looking into it, all I found was 2017 data. Parts of Vestal Parkway were ACC=2 as well, so it made some more sense in regards to your last point.
Thanks for the clarification! I've been looking into the rabbit hole of correcting road classifications, so I've been trying to learn as much about it first. NY moving to use ACC should make things way simpler - NJ is looking like an absolute disaster to fix. While these highways feel way more important than, say, Main Street, I'm not going to argue with whoever's job is to classify these. I suppose that's what the additional expressway tag is for. |
| 118338350 | almost 4 years ago | NY 201 is listed as ACC=2/12 Principal Arterial Expressway though, wouldn't that correspond to trunk? Actually, going off the highway tagging section of the NYS wiki page, it might even fall into the motorway category due to complete controlled access. Same thing for the Brandywine Highway. Good catch though on adding the missing expressway=yes to a whole bunch of roads in the area. |
