Because http://osm.mapki.com/dat.globe/globe-osm/ shows some edits in Antarctica I became curious what that could have been and discovered this:

Just someone tried to vandalise the map. Why not to just delete those lines and POIs?

About that part of the part in Niger: People there might have other problem than mapping, but wow, the map there looks really empty!
