Vandalism in Sydney ?

Vandalism in Sydney ?

It seems that there happened some vandalism (or someone who did some very unhappy changes) in Sydney. Long parts of Sussex Street disappeared, as well as the Cross City Tunnel. Maybe there is someone who has better knowledge than me in searching for the lost information and reverting it

Youo need to report this on the talk-au mailing list, it is rather unlikely that posting it here will have any effect.

you can see recent edits quite good at http://owl.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/-33.87333/151.20418 (click history tab on top) Is that the place you mean? You can find out which edit a shown modification is by clicking on the red lines. The links were deleted in http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/18208802

http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/234923864 motorway parts (mapped at 24. August 2013) which are only connected to the street network on one side really look wrong… Vandalism or accident. I have written a mail to the relevant user and asked to comment.

Hint: please to not try to restore (or even re-draw) if you are not used to the undeletion/revert tools.

Thx Simon, I’ve done so. I am not very familiar with the communication channels here on OSM. So the blog post achieved its aim already getting your comment :-)

The user did reply via mail (despite I asked to comment here). Since I made clear that the question is intended for the public…. here is the reply:

“dont worry, i am updating and redesigning the openstreetmap data. i will update it soon it was in bad condations.”

I wrote back:

“Well, that’s good, but as you see it causes much confusion. You should try to make changes which belong together in one changeset. The streets there are badly broken now since 06. October. They were not broken that much before, were they? Could you please comment at the blog, so the other people also see your response?”

no news since then. However, Creando, if you want to use the mailing list… do so. I will stop here and now.

Creando, I cannot see your mail at the mailing list archive. Sure that you sent?

As I am not a member of the list it is still waiting for approval. Meanwhile first parts (of the Cross City Tunnel) are repaired
