I strongly believe we should be adding the UPRN to what it represents, if it's a street record it should be in the street (highway)=*

Jez can't remember much about that quote, but believed the UPRNs applied to the junction, not a street

way/1322683929#map=19/50.716915/-1.123994&layers=N being a public footpath seems questionable, last time I was there, there was a big, permanent gate.

175239847 8 days ago

I've asked Jez about when/why he added the "OR at a single point on the road" part, I'll see what he says. There was a Talk GB thread at the time for some context.

https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2020-November/025400.html

I would still not add UPRNs when we don't know what they are for.

I'm not familiar with either a single node or all nodes, they both seem awful. Imagine doing it to a building. When you say "more discussion", does that mean there has been some, please could I have a link?

I have a strong preference for only adding UPRNs when we have a strong suspension we know what it's for. When we suspect it's for a road, it should be added to a road, when we suspect it's an address, it should be added to an address. Otherwise what value is adding them to OSM in the first place?

Hey, you seem to be adding UPRNs to nodes in roads (eg node/12522396301) however if it's a road record it should be assigned to the road (probably way/61430885) if it's not a road record, it should have a category or address tagged

Whats the diffence between amenity=townhall and amenity=community_centre+community_centre=village_hall?

162075824 about 1 month ago

Rob has been significantly involved in the proposals for charging stations, working with operators and Open Data specs, I see no proposals for man_made=charging_station.

162075824 about 1 month ago

It has briefly been discussed in the global tagging section. charging stations are global.

(My changeset message here wasn't great, sorry).

addr:flat isn't a real tag, it has very imitated usage globally, literally 290 as of 2025-10-31 00:59 UTC. And is long discouraged on the wiki.

https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=addr%3Aflat

addr:flats=*#Similar_tags

addr:flats is a legitimate tag used globally, it is specifically documented in GB for ranges of flats. It should probably be "Flats 5-12", not "5-12".

addr:unit is legitimate tag used globally for a single unit (or flat/apartment/suite) hence why it's necessary to add the prefix to the value.

osm.wiki/Addresses_in_the_United_Kingdom#Address_tags

So addr:flats for range, addr:unit for single. Confusingly named, but relatively simple definitions.

Another?

This changeset was so long ago, but it doesn't look like I added any bus stops in it, just added the refs.

I don't know of NaPTAN including planned bus stops, but it does include stops without active routes, and it includes request only stops. There is lots of complexities with both OSM and NaPTAN, the wiki should remember more than me.

Please don't delete buildings and addresses just because a business has closed.

I can't see 910GDIDCOTP in the current official data. I don't think
have a snap shot from 3 years ago to see what it was listed as.

node/6605149662#map=19/51.611220/-1.242517
is correct as it currently is "9100DIDCOTP".

Bad form to use OSM to promote the climate emergency.

This should be prefixed with `https://` or `http://`. However the website doesn't work for me, so I can't check which.
