SOTM 2011 - After the conference

Posted by Chdoula on 15 September 2011 in English.

The State Of The Map 2011 conference is over but I am still in the USA (Atlanta), we decided to stay 5 more days to enjoy Atlanta.

The conference was extraordinary. It s amazing to see how your (little) contribution to the project is part of a big thing and that openstreetmap is already used to help countries that are facing disasters.

I made my presentation during the Lightning talks and I was very happy to see that many people have enjoyed it and found it interesting.

I learned a lot of new things. I met many mappers from different countries. I bought a new GPS tracker and I am willing to focus on my neighborhood when I come back to Tunisia.

Enjoy Atlanta! Its a great city with a really cool OSM Community. You might want to try to get in touch with the local community to try out your new GPS :) There is an OSM Georgia Facebook page and wiki page that has everyone's contact info.

The map of Decatur, GA (3 metro stops from downtown) is amazing! There are a ton of great places to eat and see.

Best,
Thea
