Removing private trail from map

Posted by Billthorne on 6 January 2022 in English.

Removing private trail from map I am attempting to update the map to remove an area listed as a trail that is not a trail and on private property. My hope is that no one will use that non-trail. I made the changes but not sure how to save them to the actual map..

Hi! I see you are having some trouble with the map, rather than deleting the trail entirely, scroll down until where you see “Allowed Access”, put private in the all field, which will make it private. To upload your changes, click the save button in the top right corner, add a changeset comment in the textbox on the left side of the screen, and press the blue upload button below it.

Editing the access value is the preferred alternative, this way other mappers will not re-add the non-trail, you can also leave a note tag to further describe the situation and let other mappers know.

My hope is that no one will use that non-trail.

Fire Fighters, Police, Rescue, Amazon Logistics, UPS, Post, … may want to use this trail if it leads to a house, …

Adding access=private is the right way
