OpenStreetMap

Hi,

I've heard of osm project earlier, and already did some minor mapping. But today i actively rode some 'unknown' bicycle tracks just for this project - So, mapping was this time no more a by-product of just sports activity.

The downside is to stop for every crossing - 6 clicks on gps for every waypoint is horrible time consuming and interrupts training effords :-(

Greetings

Whenever I want to mark a spot like a crossing I either take a short detour into those ways for about 10 meters or so or I simply mark the spot by switching from the current side of the lane to the other and immediately back. That leaves a small bump in the line.
The drawback of this is that it only helps you remembering WHERE something was, if you don't remember there was anything to mark at all you might ignore the mark...

You could consider using a using a voice recorder to make a continuous audio commentary. This way you can record positional and other information without stopping and without taking your hands off the handlebars. JOSM supports the synchronization of the audio and GPS records.
