Mapped in Every Country of the World

Well, this was a personal goal of mine to Map in every single country in the World with OpenStreetMap. Well, mapping in every country is easy so I took it upon myself to make at least 1000 changes in every country. So, today finally that goal is achieved.

I mapped in all 197 countries in the World and made at least 1000 changes (Except in Vatican City because that place is too well mapped).

Country list: https://www.countries-ofthe-world.com/all-countries.html

https://www.state.gov/misc/list/

You can check it here: http://hdyc.neis-one.org/?mmahmud

Notes:

Palestine is shown as West Bank and Gaza Strip combined.

New Caledonia and Guadeloupe are states of France.

Western Sahara is part of Morocco.

This is a fairly abstract exercise of course but you missed at least Greenland, Svalbard and Antarctica (assuming here of course you use the HDYC definition of ‘country’).

Whoa, cool! How long did that take you, from start to finish?

@imagico : Hi, yeah, it was just a personal goal and enjoyed doing it.

I followed the country list from here: https://www.countries-ofthe-world.com/all-countries.html

Greenland is controlled by Denmark and is not listed as a country but thanks for pointing it out. I will make my contributions there as well. Svalbard is in Norway, not a country. Antarctica is not a country.

Check the country list here as well: https://www.state.gov/misc/list/

@Piskvor : Thanks. I am not really sure. I am mapping since September, 2015 however this goal came to mind fairly recently and by that time I already had covered around 50 countries though various projects through the HOT tasking manager. I will say maybe 6 months if you map regularly and cover a country a day.

Well - customarily we in OSM do not give much about authoritative classifications - see also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country and the ambiguities listed there. The HDYC country list is a fairly consistent list of territories (although some of the boundaries used are off leading to quite a bit of stuff being classified as unknown).

Amazing! Congratz. Well done..

Congratulations, that’s amazing, you are mapping only since 2015. Still you have been cheating: in Vatican State you only did 30 edits (I guess the other mappers hadn’t left anything to map that can be done remotely). Well, that’s nitpicking, great achievement!

@Filipe Alexandre João : Thank you. @dieterdreist : Thanks. Hahaha. True. That place is so well mapped, I could not find anything at all that I can contribute to. Had to drew trees (I know, but had no options left). Maybe when I visit, I can do some field mapping there. ( :P )
