Mapping pedestrian deck beside on Omiya sta. Saitama Japan

Posted by miurahr on 12 January 2009 in English. Last updated on 13 January 2009.

Pedestrian deck is popular in japan. There are many pedestrian decks on the next to stations.
There are good exprenations on wikipedia such as
wikipedia:ja ペデストリアンデッキ pedestrian deck and wikipedia:ja 日本のペデストリアンデッキ一覧 List of pedestrian deck in Japan.

I tried yesterday to get track data in front of Omiya station, which is famous with its pedestrian deck.
You can see photos by google search, such as these using keyword "ペデストリアンデッキ"

Nice work. I remember being a bit puzzled how to map something like this in Japan last January. That was before highway=pedestrian was widely used.

I think for Japanese cities, a 3D renderer would be great! :D

If those pictures are out of google search, I would delete them here and give a link instead because of license problems. Anyway, seems to be complicated and much work.
