Socal cleanup

Posted by jerjozwik on 5 June 2008 in English.

Ive been spending my last few days cleaning up the TIGER data in my home city of san gabriel. and adding in map features like schools and what not. after that cleanup i found myself editing and cleaning up the 10 freeway, east to el monte west to downtown.

today i continued my anal retentiveness by editing, cleaning, separating the 4 level interchange between the 101 and 110 freeways. im rather surprised how messy most of the ways in so-cal are. not sure if its bad gps/Tiger data, or just lazy map makers.

so onward i go, in my quest to make maps pritty.

[after i get sick of editing the LA area, ill head back over to east java for some indonesian map making fun!

Hi,
If you realy want to see a messy TIGER interchange, have a look at the I15/I515 one in Las Vegas. A lot of bits or road are missing and half of what is there is going the wrong way.

I'm going to over there in a couple of weeks to see if I can sort it out. I figure that I'll need 12 seperate passes and then a couple of good photos from the top of the Stratosphere.
