Highway 7 was recently deleted?

Posted by dpp on 28 April 2011 in English.

Japan, Yamagata prefecture and Akita Prefecture. Coastal Highway 7 runs, among other places, from Sakata to Akita. It was properly mapped before, but that large stretch of that road appears to have been deleted in the last few days.

South of Sakata and north of Akita City are unaffected.

it might be related to a 'yahoo import'. The road just south of the deleted area seems to be part of a 'yahoo import' which is a huge edit.

Hmm, I see.

Could anyone tell me how to get it back? I could trace it again, but that seems excessive.

The road just to the south was redrawn a couple days ago, so maybe that person is on a mission to redraw a huge area. So it may be a work in progress. (thinking positively here) I'd suggest sending him a message asking if he was the one who deleted it and/or if he's redrawing it.

Hopefully it wasn't the xybot going out of control.

Will do, thanks!

If yahoo or bing imagery isn't available, and if it was an accidental deletion, I'd suggest perhaps tracing the road from the OpenCycleMap tiles, as they render less frequently and the tiles are available now.

Also, maybe there seem to be some gps traces visible in potlatch 2, so tracing the gps trace may give a better map.

how about I just start tracing for you guys.... http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/7991285

Thanks! I'll finish whatever is left later today.

ok, i finished here. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/1263065931

not having local knowledge, there's a chance that perhaps I joined the freeway to a local road that should've been an overpass/underpass.

And there's some gpx track tracing from the north side down to iwaki. I didn't label these due to no local knowledge.
Iwaki to Honjo should be easy tracing for someone who knows the area. Just turn on the gps track in the potlatch editor.

.. also, is 341 supposed to be a 1 way road?

Guys, it's way easier to recover accidental deletions.

If you use Potlatch 1 you can just click 'u' and it will pull back deleted ways from the server. These will show up as locked red ways, you can unlock a way and just save it back to the server. Potlatch adds a note about reverting to an earlier version.

JOSM has a changeset history tool which allows recovery of earlier states, but this is rather more sophisticated, and requires a certain amount of experience & confidence before using in earnest. As it works on data offline it is worth seeing how it works with one of your own changesets just in case you accidentally end up loading the data.

I'm a bit concerned to learn that contributions are being deleted and replaced by imported data.

The road was retrieved with undelete -- thanks leuchtmetall!
alexz, I'll check on the 341 and interchanges.
Problem solved, thanks for the help everyone.
