Posted by bryceco on 26 February 2013 in English.

The 1.1 release of Go Map!! is available in the Apple App Store today. It includes many relatively minor usability improvements:

  • Fixes issues with Russian and Asian street name rendering
  • Improved tagging presets for highways and other ways
  • Auto-complete for all tag values
  • Easier to read street labels
  • Displays house numbers
  • Many new POI icons, especially seamarks
  • Improved login experience
  • Lots of other minor improvements

About 7500 people downloaded version 1.0. Hope you enjoy the update!

Thank you very much for such amazing editor for iOS :) Street names auto-completion is great and most helpful for me.

BTW please specially describe Nominatum search usage in your short documentation. Maybe I was a bit slow but I could launch Nominatum only after a week of Go Map usage when accidentally hold ‘My Location’ button for a second :)

It’s strange but I didn’t see mentioned Russian fonts rendering problem in 1.0 - all was ok then and now. The only serious issue I could report was frequent crashes during app suspending using quick tasks switching in iPad2: « Application Specific Information: Go Map!![111] has active assertions beyond permitted time: {( <BKProcessAssertion: 0x1e5467e0> identifier: Suspending process: Go Map!![111] permittedBackgroundDuration: 10.000000 reason: suspend owner pid:27 preventSuspend preventThrottleDownCPU preventThrottleDownUI )} »

Fortunately I didn’t see such crashes using new 1.1 version yet.

BTW could you please also add some minimal editing of relations in the future? Even adding/removal of existing relations for the ways/nodes will be enough for me :)

The rendering issue was a font substitution bug that would occur for a street that contained a mix of English (i.e. Helvetica) text and a language rendered in a substituted font.

Relation editing is coming.

用了几天 感觉不错。 就是搜索功能太隐蔽了,得长按定位键。另外发现几次崩溃现象。

Just yet another feature request: could GoMap answer to JOSM calling requests when started and if iOS allows this at all? Here is an example to call JOSM for particular OSM way inside specified bounding box:

And yet another request - could you please take into account known Bing imaginary offset when there is some near current edit location? Please look at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Imagery_Offset_Database for more details and into http://offsets.textual.ru/

Bryce, You are brilliant. What a great app. I decided to give version 1.4 a try the other day and was amazed. My normal method was to use Galileo to save tracks and waypoints, then process the data in JOSM.

Is there any user group?

I would like to save gps tracks and don’t see how to do this from the GPX “details” window.

It would be nice if I could “square” a building.

I think posting a diary entry about version 1.4 would spread the word, a lot more people have iphones with data plans these days.

The “info” help window refers to a “configuration window Blue Triangle”… I don’t see that but am clear about how to use the Tags/Add Note/Paste bar.

Thanks again, it’s terrific.

Alan
