South Tyneside Ward Project

Posted by Rydium on 10 July 2012 in English.

I’ve been using OpenStreetMaps for 3 days now (as of 10.07.12) and have found it quite addicting being a benevolent mapper. Today, I just finished mapping the streets of the South Tyneside ward (also known as district), Fellgate & Hedworth. I find it quite nice that anyone can now use these free maps to navigate the area, but I feel I have not yet reached a conclusion.

So I ask this: any mappers from the South Tyneside area, please map your ward. I’m aware some are harder than others, and I’m also going to be contributing, but for now please map your own ward. I wish to see ALL of South Tyneside mapped for the community.

Eventually, I plan to move on to larger areas, such as cities and eventually refurbish the Tyne & Wear metro line (a challange). I thank you for any help you contribute! :)

Welcome to OpenStreetMap!

I’ve done a lot of mapping in Durham, but also bits in Newcastle. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
