Wäre es nicht die Pokemon-Marke, dann hätte dieses Spiel keine Sau interessiert. Von daher glaube ich nicht, dass es möglich wäre mit einem OSM-Spiel eine kritische Masse an Nutzern zu erreichen. :(

One consideration that also went into the choice of the original colors was the use of OSM tiles as background/basemap. Your new red is very bold and prominent in comparison. But since making your own tiles is quite easy nowadays I am not sure how much this should count.

I am personally not a fan of huge shields but that’s because I am not a car driver.

Do you also care about color-vision impairment / accessibility? It’s a major problem and really not something you should attempt tackling (I speak from experience :D ) but for the final touches it might be worth to play with ColorOracle and see if small changes can improve the separation for red/green deficient people.

Ich fände es in diesem Fall garnicht so schlimm eine divergente Skala zu nehmen, durch die Klassenwahl (nur 2 bis 50%, 5 darüber) ist ja eh schon eine Art Wertung drin. Wenn du sagst “unter 50% ist ganz schlecht” und “ab 80% ist schon ziemlich gut”, dann passt das :)

Ich würde empfehlen ein anderes Farbschema zu verwenden, zB “7-class RdYlBu” oder “7-class PiYG” von http://colorbrewer2.org/

Das aktuelle Schema ist nicht intuitiv und ich finde es schwer zu sehen, welcher Wert wo ist.

Hey, mach ruhig Fehler und auch mal was kaputt. Ist doch halb so schlimm. Jeder lernt einmal! Sofern du offen bist, Kritik annehmen kannst und gewillt bist es auszubessern, sollte das gar kein Problem sein. :)

Du kannst einfach was mappen und dann im Forum, auf der Mailingliste, im IRC oder auch in einem Diary bitten, dass jemand drüber kuckt.

Unfiltered first impressions (Opera 12, potentially misconfigured), always sound more grumpy that intended:

I panned to northern Germany. Not sure what the red dots are, probably long bike travel routes. But what are the blue lines then? Must be something very different, motorways? Looked for a legend/key, didn’t find one linked.

Zooming on Hamburg, I recognise the motorways as I suspected. The spacing between the red dots is so big, that I sometimes have trouble seeing their “line”. Eg on http://cycle.travel/map?lat=53.5564&lon=9.9976&zoom=11

Oh awesome, there is a circular blue dotted route around Hamburg? I want to try that some day. I would love to be able to click on it and see details about it.

I clicked on the map (trying to get details of the blue dots), got a marker instead and I seem unable to remove it again. If I click it, it says “1. footpath”. One of the yellow icons looks like a rubber eraser, nope GPS. Another might be an undo arrow, nope. The icons have no mouseover text hint. Hm… I clicked again, have a start and end point now. I select the end coordinate in the form field and delete it, hit enter and both points disappear from the map. Yay (oops :P ). Remove the coordinate text from the other field as well. Now both fields have ? icons next to them which do nothing.

Zooming/panning some more. Looks like there is a starbucks invasion in the Hafencity: http://cycle.travel/map?lat=53.5463&lon=10.0015&zoom=13 Seems weird that there are almost none of those symbols elsewhere.

Zoomed all the way on the blue dotted line, no name or anything. I really want to know more!

On http://cycle.travel/map?lat=53.5535&lon=9.9352&zoom=15 the red dots for train stations of Bahrenfeld and Reeperbahn are not visible. This is kind of a pet peeve of mine because OsmAnd and Oruxmaps love doing that just when I am looking for public transport. I’d suggest always showing them.

The faint green/blue dotted lines are quite hard to see. I imagine all the transparent colored dotted lines to be really hard for people with red-green problems.

On http://cycle.travel/map?lat=53.5622&lon=9.9696&zoom=13 the main focus for me seems railways and motorways, they are so bold.

Made a route in my neighborhood, worked well. Got some yellow 1 though? Found out what that means by playing more. Eww, miles in the sidebar? You filthy imperialist!

Hey, you use red and green to show opening hours. Lots of people have problems with that color combination. I’d suggest rather using a pattern to differentiate instead of just color. Or maybe filled black for closed and inner white for open.

Bisschen Feedback zur Kartographie:

Rot <-> Grün ist eine SEHR bedeutungsschwangere Farbskala, du sagst mit deiner Karte quasi, dass mehr Ausländer = schlecht ist! Nimm lieber ein vorurteil-loses Farbschema.

Generell gilt, wenn du eine divergierende Farbskala nimmst, dann sollte es einen Grund haben und der Mittelpunkt irgendeine Bedeutung. In diesem Beispiel könntest du zB sagen “weniger/mehr Ausländer als im Durchschnitt”.

http://colorbrewer2.org/ hat schöne Farbskalen.

Transparente Choroplethen-Karte über einer Basemap sieht immer etwas komisch aus (und die Farben stimmen nicht mehr mit der Legende überein). Vielleicht kannst du einfach ein paar Labels über die Karte legen so als Orientierung?

Irgendwie sehen die Linien der Polygone sehr pixelig aus, ist vielleicht Absicht, aber ich finde es komisch.

Komisch, dass toreal() nicht geklappt hat. csvt-Dateien finde ich auch super nervig… :)

You can easily load GPS tracks in QGIS as vector layer. Then you are not bound to some proprietary technology like Google Maps.

I don’t see how dropping share-alike would allow NYC to take OSM data and publish it as PD. The attribution clause would still be required.
