If they want to change it, might as well tag name=Eugene Beltline Road/Randy Papé Beltway; old_name=Belt Line Road; new_name=Randy Papé Beltway to solve that problem (or not)

Except it's not dual-named, and old_name/new_name tags aren't widely accepted.

That doesn't mean you can't use them. I'd use name=... and old_name=...

That way if someone searches for the old name they can still find it.

If the article is accurate about the other road that has changed 7 years ago, and the limited extent of this name change, have those errors been corrected?

@daveemtb I also use name= and old_name=, but that doesn't cause that much controversy IRL. For example: http://www.gmanews.tv/story/143204/Officials-inaugurate-GMA-Network-Drive-in-QC, which happened over a year ago.
