Texas state routes done...

Posted by 25or6to4 on 22 August 2011 in English.

After a year and a half, all Texas state routes have been checked, realigned, tagged, ref'd, and have added a relation to each one. Hopefully the tagging is reasonably consistent with each Highway, but things have been changed afterwards. If you find any highway in Texas (not including Farm to market roads), that doesn't have a relation, let me know so I can fix it. I would check myself, but can't figure out a way to do that.

Working my way across Texas

Posted by 25or6to4 on 22 July 2009 in English.

Haven't posted in a while, so thought I would.

Interstates across Texas are complete, except for I-45 from Dallas to Houston. There's some construction I'm unsure about north of Houston, and imagery is moderate at best, so I passed on it for now. Am starting to work my way through US Routes in Texas. U.S. 54, 57, and 59 are complete with relations. Currently working across U.S. 60, which is complete from the TX/NM line to Canyon.

Am also starting work on reimporting some new and better line data. TIGER data for some Texas counties was extremely bad. I have recently contacted the Texas Natural Resources Information System, which is the state's GIS clearinghouse. They have let me know that their data is public domain and had no problem with us using it. Have been in contact with Chris Lawrence, who holds many scripts for converting shapefiles to ways. Some counties will not need resetting, some will. I have created pages for TNRIS upload and will also make a subpage to list yes/no for each county (all 254!).

Current Texas project: US 77

Posted by 25or6to4 on 18 October 2008 in English.

Ok, just got done with redrawing/adjusting/completing I-10 across Texas (all ~900 miles of it!), so my next project chosen is US 77. Had already completed through Cameron County previously, so started @ Cam/Willacy county line yesterday. Everything from Kenedy County to intersction with I-37 on ly had 1 lane, so got to draw one side or the other all the way through. Also cleaned up the business routes in Kingsville and Robstown. Have completed through the terror that is it's intersection with I-37. Will start there tomorrow, but since I-37 only represented by one way, will likely draw in other direction from the intersection south to the terminus downtown.
