Difficult

Waiting for the GPS to get more satellites worked well. Thank you for the advice. The GPS had more satellites, but the accuracy is not good. The track still is not straight. I walked the same street today two times, the tracks are very different. I made waypoints at every intersection. I waited at each intersection for a minute before making a waypoint. I watched the cursor slowly move as I waited. I will have to wait many times to add new streets.

Maybe the GPS is too old. I want to add new streets by walking with the GPS, or riding a bicycle. To wait at each intersection is too slow. Also, curving roads need more waiting.

Just ride the road a dozen times or so and average the path based on all the tracks.

Or buy a new GPS :)

Off the shelf GPS units tend to be more stable on the possition (better accuracy) when moving at constant speeds, so a bicycle trip to map roads is probably much better than to walk. Also averaging several tracks helps a lot. But be aware of urban canyons!
