Hello Emwavenet, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Well. The large number of comments you have attracted at http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=2398645 in just a couple of days editing must be something of a record. Thanks for taking the time to reply to them.

However, there are a couple of points there that I think must be reiterated:

One is that just because you “found something on the Internet” does not mean that it is suitable for adding to OpenStreetMap. This might be for a number of reasons - because it is not licence-compatible, or because it no longer exists, or because it doesn’t exist yet (like your cycleway in osm.org/changeset/125059117 ). Your statement on osm.org/changeset/125137881 that “Technically, if the system accepts a data format, then the format is legal” is complete rubbish. If that causes you to leave OpenStreetMap, fine - although of course everyone would much rather you stayed and could work with the community, not against it.

Another is, as has already been mentioned, relations are not categories. osm.org/relation/14478792 is category with a name that you have made up, and osm.org/node/9965468875 (for example) is a duplicate of an existing item osm.org/node/1511490068 .

You must not add things as things that they are not so that they appear on a map. osm.org/way/1087351993 appears to be an example of this. If you provide a source, like on osm.org/way/1087351993 , please provide something that is useful and not invalid (https://web.cern.ch/ isn’t actually a valid URL - one of CERN’s URLs is https://home.web.cern.ch/ , which is probably what you were aiming for, but that is not useful as a source).

Another thing is that if you want to import data you must follow the process laid out at osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines .

We’ll need to immediately revert some of your more “out there” additions, for the reasons stated above, and we’ll also review the others, which might need further questions answering, or perhaps also reverting.

I’m sending this as a message that you need to read before continuing to edit. If you have any questions please email data@openstreetmap.org with a subject of “[Ticket#2022082010000209]”.

Best Regards,

Andy Townsend, on behalf of OSM’s Data Working Group
