Dear lorenzo23622,

you seem to be editing a lot in China. The DWG has had complaints from members of the Chinese community, claiming that at least in the changesets

you have made edits based on aerial imagery that were not in line with the actual situation on the ground because the imagery was outdated. It appears that in some cases you even deleted roads because they were not visible on the imagery you were using, even though their existence was confirmed by mappers on the ground.

Chinese mappers have reached out to you about this but they have not received a response.

Please understand that “armchair mapping” from a distance away - which I assume is what you are doing here - always has to take a back seat compared to actual, local knowledge. Please exercise utmost care when using aerial imagery in places you do not know first-hand; if you are not sure that your imagery is current, liaise with local mappers to determine that before you start large scale “improvements” that may later turn out to be wrong.

Also, before deleting or modifying data that has recently be added by local mappers, read their changeset comments. If someone has added a road a few months ago with a comment of “newly built road” then maybe you shouldn’t delete it just because it is not on Bing!

If you cannot read Chinese changeset comments, you are expected to use a machine translator to understand them - you cannot expect the Chinese mappers to use a foreign language for changeset comments inside China just for the benefit of remote mappers.

Please also make an attempt to reply when Chinese mappers contact you about your work in China.

If you feel that this is too much of a burden, I would have to ask you to instead map closer to home!

Thank you
Frederik Ramm
