Dear user MacLondon,

you seem to have a habit of uploading large changesets to OSM that “fix” things (like cycle network tags here osm.org/changeset/71465799 or the London bus routes a few days ago where your edit broke lots of things in London and had to be reverted).

We have a policy for mechanical edits, which has been pointed out to you. A mechanical edit is any edit where you don’t visually make and inspect the individual changes. It is not a mechanical edit if you trace 1000 buildings, but it is if you select all buildings in JOSM and move them a bit (unless you look at each one again). The edits I quoted above are clearly mechanical edits, and this means (among other things) that you need to discuss them with the community before you execute them.

In osm.org/changeset/72987308 you have been politely asked to engage in discussion about your “public transport version 2” edits but you do not seem to be interested; instead you continue your mapping as if on auto pilot.

OSM is a community project. The very least the other community members can expect from you is an explanation of what you wanted to achieve, what your process was, and why it came to damaging London in a way that attracted the attention of many in the community (https://github.com/openstreetmap/operations/issues/317 - https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=757728 - https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/70317/corrupt-maps - https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2019-August/023327.html) and prompted quite a few people to try and repair the damage.

Please, before you do any other “public transport version 2” mapping, participate in the mailing list or forum, discuss what your goals are, why you’re doing what you do, and what you have changed to avoid issues like that in the future. And also, if you are planning on making any edit in the future that qualifies as a mechanical edit, follow the rules outlined on osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct - they are not optional and if you disregard them, your edits will be reverted and your account may be blocked.

Thank you
