Dear user taihoku,

firstly, may I ask you to use proper changeset comments instead of labelling all your changesets “修改描述” which is not helpful. See osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments for details.

Secondly, in your user profile page you write “本人僅用正體字” (“I only use traditional Chinese characters.”). This is ok as long as you are editing in Taiwan. The mainland China OSM community however uses Simplified Chinese for name tags. Therefore I must ask you to refrain from performing any mapping in mainland China in the future. I will also revert all name edits that you have made in mainland China.

Thirdly, it has come to my attention that you have threatened other mappers with reporting them to the authorities for requesting that you comply with customs of the mainland China OSM community when mapping in mainland China. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially in a country like the People’s Republic of China. Mainland China mappers are risking their freedom for contributing to OSM and you sit on your comfy chair in Taiwan and threaten to report them to the police because they dare to have an opinion! If I see or hear one more threat like “依照《中華人民共和國測繪法》,未取得測繪資格、未經官方許可的私人測繪製圖活動屬於違法行為。我會建議你刪帳號,或是移除個人訊息。” (from osm.org/changeset/177937352) then I will personally suspend your account indefinitely.

We ask mappers from mainland China to respect the mapping customs in Taiwan, and we ask Taiwanese mappers to respect the mapping customs in mainland China. If you cannot do that, then you need to stick to mapping in Taiwan.

This message blocks your account for a week to give me time to revert your name edits in mainland China. You will be able to continue mapping after that.

Best regards
Frederik Ramm
