Read up on multipolygons and understand that the accepted way to map things like golf courses will look like lines in certain interfaces because of how multipolygons are represented.

I did some further research. "Living Street" does not appear in the guidelines for Virginia road classifications at osm.wiki/Virginia/Highway_classification
However I agree that it's a better tag than any others. I did add conditional restrictions for motor vehicles where appropriate according to osm.wiki/Conditional_restrictions

OK, I can see how that's a fair interpretation. I've added opening_hours tags to the gates on the roads approaching in hopes that vehicles don't get routed into the Historic Area during pedestrian-only hours, and will look into a way to better designate when general vehicle access is permitted.

I don't think "Living street" is the best tag. These ways are primarily used by foot traffic and should not be routable for vehicles except service vehicles (garbage pickup, groundskeepers, emergency).

I was just in the Residence -- I didn't place the other node but there is no hotel there so it's now removed
