I agree with DaveTO. Though initially a few years ago I also wanted to see it removed as a bikeway for similar reasons as Jarek. Currently the bike lanes have improved in the area, and while not fully complete this is going forwad and I would rather see cyclists encouraged to use the trail as intended. We should not design infrastructure or maps with "confident group riders" in mind, as they are the minority of cyclists by far. I would be much more worried about a cyclist getting into traffic they are not expecting or accustomed to.

I don't really know if I agree with this change, especially as it wasn't made after an in person visit (by the changer). I read the blogs in question and it's only mentioned in one of them that the group took the lane due to a "gap" in the bikeway there. It is basically a sidewalk, but I believe has the city's designation as a bike route. I just worry that removing the bikeway designation here will change routing on apps which use OM like RWGPS and others, pushing riders into the busy roadway or calculating long detours. Maybe my worries as unfounded. It's definitely not a very good or acceptable bike route.

My understanding is that this bidirectional south-side bike lane was temporary, but I'm not sure. The one on the north side of Eglinton which was a sidewalk level MUP, was closed soon after it opened to allow for the Crosstown Extension tunnel boring work. However the south side lanes are superior in many ways, namely in that they actually connect to Weston Rd. (and beyond) while the north side ones ended around Pearen St. I believe there is also a south-side continuation east of Weston under the rail overpass, but I don't see it on recent maps or streetview so I'll have to reconfirm in person.

Your suggestion seems good! Again, I am recent here, and I only came to over a while back to delete a totally different bike route that got me into a lot of trouble north of Toronto. Can you make that change? I can but I'll need to figure it out! :)

Thanks for the reply and the link! I noticed that the intention is to tunnel under the rail corridor just east of Weston, but that doesn't seem close to happening yet. Apparently due to CN related delays. So I think the current state of the trail will be it for a while in that section! Hi there. New to this place. I rode this "bike path" on Finch W, east of Weston Road today and it was utterly not safe for cycling due to the ongoing construction. I wouldn't have added it to maps yet, given apps like Ride With GPS scrape this data and have it on their route planning maps. It's not a terrible error or anything, but it's not accurate to call this an open or complete cycle path until the construction resides and the path is widened east from Weston to Arrow Road. East of Arrow Rd, it is safer and more ridable. I want to make the change, but I don't want to deface your hard work. Is there any other way to indicate this path is not ready for cycling?

I'm a new editor, but I rode a marked off road trail connecting Hwy 12 and Sideroad seven, contiguous with (and named on the map) Thorah Concession Road 4. Half way between the two roads, this trail turned into a totally impassable marsh. I was badly stuck and got pretty hurt navigating out of it. It was a literal quagmire. I have marked it impassable and it now does not appear on the standard or Cycling layers.
