| 179670690 | Hi rarad74, Please let me take over from Gorger, as I am the person responsible for suggesting the use of “unclassified” tag in this changeset discussion and suggesting the context of the previous message. As part of an international team performing edits on OSM in almost everywhere on the Earth, OSM Wiki is our main source of reference for OSM data standards and our go-to place for learning about local or regional nuances like you described. And many communities are documenting those local practices on the Wiki and there were numerous times where the community members brought country-specific documentation to our attention in order to better understand the context. We always do our best to understand the local context and adapt ourselves to avoid any conflict with community practices. So thank you very much for explaining them to us. We did not have any intention to offend you, and I’m sorry if it sounded like that. Hope you’d understand our point of view too on this matter. Regarding the POIs, that’s indeed an ongoing discussion internally and I will definitely bring your comments to the relevant people’s attention on this matter. You can always send me a DM, and I’ll be happy to discuss any mapping matter. Have a good day. |

| 176669290 | Hi Phil, thanks for the message and for reverting the changeset. No, TomTom’s organised editing team members do not perform edits with outdated imagery, and our editing guidelines also clearly state not relying solely on a single resource and confirm with multiple resources. In this case, the map feedback we received from a TomTom staff in the area was considered to be fresh information to confirm what was visible on 2022 imagery. The members of the editing team sometimes make mistakes, and we are making sure to address and understand the root causes and address them to improve our edit quality and communicate it transparently to the wider OSM community as well. In this case, we are going to look at the internal map feedback process as well to ensure their clarity. We’ll be happy to discuss this matter further if you’d like to. |
