I've both personally driven most of this road and researched, and yes this is ambiguous. Segments like Amnicola definitely aren't signed but TN does have a lot of unsigned secondary alignments so that's not definitive.

I followed the route still marked on the latest TIGER data (https://tigerweb.geo.census.gov/tigerweb/). FWIW, I noticed that most other commercial mappers likewise show an identical alignment, possibly also based on the federal TIGER data.

However, it's also true that the state classification maps for Hamilton County (https://www.tn.gov/tdot/driver-how-do-i/look-at-or-order-state-maps/maps/annual-average-daily-traffic-maps1.html) do not list any alignment of SR 58 through downtown Chattanooga.

I attempted to reach out to the state GIS office some time ago for clarification but received no response. I'm going to try again to reach someone there. Thanks

I've reverted and attempted to improve beyond my previous version, which was based on survey. Maxar now has updated imagery for this area.
