Finally managed to complete the survey of the new M1 J8 (Hemel Hempstead). Also discovered that the A414 is being extended from Hemel towards St. Albans, and as a result the M10 is being downgraded to a trunk route (as it's now possible to drive this route without joining the motorway). I have only removed references to the M10 around the M1 junction as I did not travel to the far end of the M10 to confirm the road signs at that end have been changed to reflect the new road status.

I've removed all construction tags from this junction; although the roadworks continue, the overall road layouts now seem fixed.

I managed to travel on the new M1 J7-8 motorway link / slip road southbound, so although the roadworks continue for a few more months, I've been able to remove the construction tag. The same can't be said of the northbound road, as it's still not been built.

I also updated the J9 sliproads southbound, to reflect the slight changes to this junction too.

I've noticed a number of people put mapping parties, talks about OSM, and even SOTM into the upcoming.org event list. Although these are tagged with "osm" and "openstreetmap", there was no group bringing together the OSM users on the site. So, I've added an "OpenStreetMap" group, which is open to all, and which should contain a list of all OSM events that have been added to the site. Feel free to join the group.

Managed to get back to Grantham today, so I have now mapped the new sliproads for the A1 Northbound, and added a small section of the B1174 heading towards Allington (although I didn't get that far). I've added the new A1 Southbound section, although I've left the sliproads as they were as it's not yet clear whether these will be moved / realigned by the roadworks.

From a few days worth of mapping, I've made a number of minor updates to the map, mainly centering around new features, the odd new road, and a couple of minor realignments (mainly of roads I've submitted).

However, I was able to travel on a new stretch of the A1 Northbound around Grantham, which is part of the major roadworks to replace many roundabouts with proper junctions. I wasn't able to survey the new slip roads, nor the new bridge, but I've re-routed the A1 Northbound to reflect the new path of the road. At the time of travel, the southbound A1 still goes to the roundabout, although that will soon change.

Most of the other roundabouts on the Peterborough to Blyth stretch of the A1 are still in place right now, but it will be interesting to watch as the map gets updated.
