Thanks for the detailed explanation. While I agree with you on "destination" tag fitting best in the scenario but I see that doesn't really justify the edit as per the OSM Wiki information. As the situation is ambiguous here, should we look at adding the "unknown" tag as access? As adding any other tag might confuse other users.

Thanks for your response. I've added the access tag as private considering that these roads are built and maintained by the school. If we give the access tag as permissive, I'm assuming it would be a safety issue for students. To better understand this, could you help me with the general traffic flows through these roads?
