Hi Warin61,
After looking into the area in question, I see how the road may have better aligned to Bing in certain places.
I appreciate you bringing this error to my attention and applying corrections!
Regards,
Spencer

Hi cleary,
Thank you for your comment!
I see what you mean about this road being at least partially a fenceline. Given the lack of resources to confirm it's existence, and the likelihood that it is a private road, I think it will be fine to remove this road from the map.

Spencer

Thank you for your comments and for bringing this to our attention.
Proper data usage and handling is of great importance to us and we will be looking into this further to make sure everthing is on the mark.

Hi Cleary,
The file that I used is titled "Baseline roads and tracks - Queensland" which I've linked below. I hope that helps you in your mapping!

Hi Cleary,

I would be happy to direct you to the source of my data.
I had been using a resource approved by the Queensland Government for use in OSM which may not reflect local knowledge of this road name if it has changed recently.
Further information and permissions can be found in the link below,
osm.wiki/Attribution/qld.data.gov.au_explicit_permission
I hope this helps!
As always, please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Cheers,

Spencer

Hi Cleary,

Regarding your comment on the source of the name for Toolebuc Middleton Road, after looking into data.qld.gov.au I realized that I had accidentally applied the road name to the wrong segment. I have corrected this mistake and OSM should now reflect Toolebuc Middleton Road as the portion of this road going from NW to SE. Thank you for identifying this mistake and if you have any addition questions please let me know!

Spencer

Hi Warin61,
Thank you for your comment! I now see how my tags were redundant. This was my first time editing tags on a lake so I appreciate the feedback!

Warin61,
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! This information will be very useful, and hopefully make me a better OSM mapper moving forward!

Hi Warin61,
Thank you for the advise on tagging, especially as it relates to homesteads and service roads.
I am at times apprehensive to use the noname=yes tag as I'm unsure if a road actually has no name in reality, or if it has a name but we are unable corroborate it with a resource at the moment. Is it proper mapping etiquette on OSM to put noname=yes if we don't have a resource with the road name, even if a name might be added later?

Hi Warin61,
Thank you for your comment, and for reviewing my edits to the map! At times it can be tricky to determine the highway tags, especially in forested regions close to towns. But I see now why "track" would have been a better suited tag for this road segment.
Also, thank you for the advice on using the LPI Base Map. I'll be sure to use it as a reference in the future!
Regards,
Spencer
