Morning - these trail names were pulled from Trailforks. MORE-MTB, the local IMBA chapter for this trail system, manages its trailforks data, so it should be accurate.

I’m not surprised it’s similar because I did use it as a guide. But like I said, I did compare it to my own GPX track and it was also quite similar.

I also added other connector and access trails and split the loop into 4 segments. So it really is not the same data.

I should add that I did hear back from Trailforks and they told me it’s not their preference to use their traces elsewhere, he was ok with me leaving it on OSM. But…I decided to delete it and recreate it anyway.

I do appreciate your comments, I don’t perceive you as stubborn at all. I understand the value of intellectual property. I do feel this is different enough that it’s not infringing on them, especially since he did say it was OK that I leave the original trace (even though I didn’t).

I definitely will not use traces from trailforks in the future though.

I did not reupload the same GPX file from trailforks. I did use theirs as a guide, but recreated it completely from scratch, and also separated it into 4 colored trails, which is more accurate.

I also compared it to my own GPX files from rides I have done on this trail and they also look very similar to the trailforks data.

They look very similar because it's accurate and representative of the actual trail.

But the short answer is that it's not the same and I did not use any Trailforks data for this one.

I just reached out to Trailforks to see if this is permitted. I will update when I hear back. If they aren't OK with this, I will re-upload using my own GPX track.
