I included the wrong changeset comment in this changeset. This is not in Chad, but in Venezuela. It should just read #mapyourgrid added powertowers, extended line

Hi, please do not add fictional data - remember that this data will be used in real life situations. Thank you

Hi, the data you added here does not correspond to anything in the satellite imagery. Please remember that it is crucial that no fictional data is added, as the map will be used in real life situations.

Hi Zhou Yixin, the barrier you added is entirely fictional - it is really important that you do not add any wrong or fictional data as this map will be used in real life situations. Thanks!

Hi Zhou Yixin, the features you mapped do not exist in the satellite imagery, it is entirely fictional. Please respect that the data you add will be used in real life situations and that it is crucial that no wrong or fictional data is added. Please check the instructions tab on the project page. Thanks!

Hi @rrissiek there is a building tagged as school here - just want to make sure that this didn't happen accidentally and that you do have local knowledge. Thanks!

Hi @장채이 unfortunately none of the buildings you added here, exist. Please only add buildings for which there is enough evidence in the satellite imagery, i.e. look for the expected shadows and shapes. It also helps to check whether the sizes/dimensions make sense: buildings in this rural area are usually no more than 10m long. Some of the shapes you added are more than 50m long and 20m wide - impossible to construct in this context! Please be careful with data you add, as humanitarian organisations rely on it. Many thanks for mapping, and please get in touch if you need help :)

Hi @HagarZ, Thank you for your contribution to this project!
This changeset is reviewed by a Global Validator, at random or as requested.
Unfortunately your mapping in the changesets I reviewed is not useful. In order to follow HOT/ OSM quality standards please mind these points:
• Always read the instructions tab
• Only map features that are seen in the requested imagery source - don't draw imaginary buildings
• If you need a reference point zoom out and check for buildings elsewhere - buildings here are not 100m wide, nor are they rhomboid. Compare the features for shape, size, shadows etc. This should help you avoid creating imaginary mappings.

Check the teaching materials on the instruction and resources tabs and reach out if you need more help - thanks!

Hi @KatQuan, Thank you for your contribution to this project! This changeset is reviewed by a Global Validator, at random or as requested. The buildings you added are either enclosures or patterns you perceived in the vegetation.

You should have gotten a notification for a comment I left for you in project 14341 - you can find a useful screenshot there and tips on how to avoid mapping buildings that don't exist. Thanks again for all your work and please keep mapping!

Thank you for your contribution to this project!
This changeset is reviewed by a Global Validator, at random or as requested.
Unfortunately your mapping is not accurate enough. In order to follow HOT/ OSM quality standards please mind these points:
• Please do not draw duplicate buildings
• Buildings need to be accurately drawn and squared (select the building and type 'Q'). If the building you have drawn is really off-square, you need to adjust the nodes first before using the squaring tool
• Buildings should not share nodes with other features (buildings, roads etc). To avoid it happening, hold down the ALT key while you are placing a node near another building - it will prevent nodes from snapping together.

Thanks and please keep mapping!

Hi Daniel,
thanks for the feedback, and I will definitely stop such retagging - I didn't realise it would be problematic and could even be seen as vandalism!! I adopted this practice when (at a time when I was a relatively new validator) I was told by a senior global validator that basically I should not delete anything, and in the case of phantom highways (where someone mistook say a field boundary for a path or track) should retag them as barrier=hedge rather than deleting them... So, I also applied this approach to phantom buildings...

Interesting to read in the wiki that history should only be retained if the object is at the same location, because I was also told that outdated buildings should be "recycled" i.e. if they no longer exist, they should be dragged to wherever a newer building has to be added. And, if too many buildings are "left over", to combine them and then use the replace geometry tool! It never made sense to me, but I eventually gave up arguing against this and now participate in telling new mappers to recycle buildings... 🤦‍♀️ So, thanks for clarifying this and pointing me to the wiki page!

Regards
Sabine
