You're right, they did overlap. Personally, I prefer to map connected buildings with shared nodes.
way/592787147
way/484765846
In those cases, I missed to add a shared node. My fault

190672055

Sharing nodes is not intersecting

190450008

Not by accident, but not with the intention of leaving it that way either

190472188

two identical relations + building tags on outer ways

relation/21649037

relation/21652981

you need to remove one of the multipolygon relations and tags of inner and outer ways. Then add the tags to the remaining multipolygon relation.

in josm: select on one of the ways, then right click on the relation in the tags/membership menu => edit

Hi, could you please check the area again

more a path than a residential road

Hi this is quite a long road
please check if it needs to be split before tagging the surface
and adding the name.
Based on the given imagery the road is asphalted until here
node/2259018463
and the name may also only be valid until this node

Nice imagery, sorry for not noticing that before. I would suggest to update the road layout at once before starting.

Some issues in the data:

Many sections of road are joined or split in strange ways.

Are you the organizer of this mapping project?

190295777

Please be more careful

like here:
node/6115135299

or with very small buildings like here

way/1567058599

only guessing?

189361434

way/652409342

runs directly through the buildings

way/652409338

no road is visible on Esri

node/6116371071

The geometry needs to be updated

could it bee still too early to change the tagging?

Hello again,
Yesterday I forgot to add a link to this section of the road:
way/654244381

There’s still an issue with the one-way street and lane tagging.

Based on the latest changes, it’s possible to drive south on Harare Drive, but not north. Since I don’t have access to the latest imagery, I’m not sure if that’s correct.

188484837

Hi, could you please check the intersection again?

dead end
node/284709238

oneway? direction, lanes?

To map more accurately, you’ll probably need to zoom in much further. To get a better overview of the area, use the “u” shortcut to turn off the data layer. Then use the “b” shortcut to switch back and forth between Bing and Mapbox (the two better resolution layers here) in the menu. You’ll then see the objects from a slightly different angle and under different lighting conditions.
Please do not ignore warnings, such as those about overlapping buildings, as in this changeset.

Please compare my shapes with yours.

The overlapping road was deleted by another mapper. (@ratrun)
Elements that intersect the boundaries of your changeset are downloaded by JOSM only if nodes they contain lie within the bounding box.
Looking at your edits, I get the impression that you tend to map outside the bbox. This always leads to problems. In JOSM, make sure that areas outside the downloaded region are shown hatched, you can find this option under the “View” tab.
Please don't just suggest focusing on buildings; instead, limit this project exclusively to buildings. So far, I've noticed that too many mistakes are being made.

squared all the buildings,
removed incorrect landuse polygons and barrier,
removed unnecessary tracks (short driveways)

This project primarily focuses on buildings

Please do not draw new roads over existing ones.

Just yesterday, I fixed several of these issues.

The turning lanes appear inconsistent.
Perhaps it would be better to remove the traffic island instead.

The data you appear to be trying to import is of extremely poor quality. Please note that most of the existing buildings were mapped as part of the “Eliminate Malaria” campaign. The project imagery at that time exhibited significant misalignments. As a result, many “Rapid” objects are actually duplicates with slightly different coordinates. Furthermore, both the “Rapid” data and the existing data appear to be outdated. Please remove these building outlines or verify them manually.
