We hope you will continue to contribute to OSM, but only from legal sources.

54322797 almost 8 years ago

You can only trace from the background satellite images that are included in the ID editor, or by mapillary/OSC images and your own observations. No other sources are allowed.

54322797 almost 8 years ago

I am really sorry, but we will have to remove your contributions. The easiest will be if you do that yourself.
I know this is very frustrating for you, but that naver data is copyrighted by naver and we can not allow this data do be in OSM. naver could sue OSM for stealing this data.

Hi. what was your source for adding this information?

You can learn more about the twin-city Rason here: https://koreanologie.univie.ac.at/fileadmin/user_upload/p_koreanologie/North_Korean_Cities/Rason/Rason.pdf

It's not cool to revert changes from users without waiting for their feedback. Especially when they have ground truth knowledge that you don't have.

The thing is, there actually is no city Rason. There is 라진 (Rajin) and 선봉 (Sonbom). Koreans like to build these composites, So Rason is a composite from the first syllables of both twin cities. It's als the name of the province and special economic zone. Thus I placed it inbetween the two places.

Hi srividya,

If the name:en= tag only contains romanized Korean, it is not English and therefore wrong. It is concensus on the wiki and the mailinglist. Please join the talk-ko mailinglist or the telegram group telegram.me/osmKorea to discuss with the community.

thanks

It would be good if you could join our mailinglist talk-ko to discuss these things with the community.

My personal understanding is that there is no censorship. If there is a place that has a name I don't see a reason not to put this name on it.

In OSM we map everything that we can see with our eyes, either on the ground or from satellite imagery. We do not censor. Not anywhere in the world and also not in Korea, North and South. You are more than welcome to add more areas, bus stops or other things you care about. I ad a lot of bicycle paths for example. See this: osm.wiki/Ko:%EB%B3%B4%EC%95%88%EA%B5%AC%EC%97%AD

Could you explain why you deleted this?

46345207 almost 9 years ago

Hi Paul,
this was just a test if ID still allows to use this proprietary custom layer. It doesn't actually use any of the information from that layer. Thank you for taking care of this.
