for Aynam Road on the old canal bed. It seemed of no significance and was not near the road. If you know of its relevance and correct siting, then please survey and recheck with the "keep right" web site.

Aynam Road, Nether Street, Nether Bridge (known locally as Netherfield Bridge) and Lound Road (The Lound) all meet at the "cross roads" east of the bridge. The Give Way sign going south on Aynam Road is of no significance to the road names, it is used to give free and continuous access from the 'new' traffic lights to north bound vehicles.

Agree, even if a Frog Permit is obtained the parking is still free.

Jakey Tanners is the name of the road up the hill from the 30 mph sign to the brow of that hill where ‘Dick the Fruiterer’ had a market garden behind the high wall at the entrance to Stainbank Green. The name has been (and still is) used by generations of Kendalians, obviously since Jakey had his tannery nearby. The name, as you say, is mentioned in Kendal’s history and that is why I named it on OSM, to preserve the town’s rich heritage. A place does not have to have a physical sign for it to be known or shown on a map, there are many places named on OSM that have no indication on the ground. In the majority of cases local names came before road signs and that in itself is a good reason for OSM to show this stretch of road as Jakey Tanners.

The existing rail line was moved to the centre of the double track bed, therefore no old track bed exists. The reason for removing the track bed was that 2 bridges were shown at each intersection, this was picked up on "keep right" ( https://www.keepright.at/report_map.php?schema=86&error=44271714 ).
My interpretation of OpenStreetMaps is that they are up to date and accurate. If historical data is inserted there would be buildings over roads, bridges that don't exist etc.
