Thanks for linking me to that conversation! I'm happy for us in Winnipeg to follow any agreed standard, but I want "the docs" to be updated as well to avoid... honestly to avoid this kind of bickering :P

I agree that the name format of `"name"="Bus <ref>: <from> => <via> => <to>"` is super redundant. I'll continue any thoughts here in that broader community discussion.

Hey! I would recommend keeping the naming convention of the bus routes as what the wiki recomends ( "name"="Bus <ref>: <from> => <via> => <to>" )

This changeset just completely detached several bus routes. So many of your changesets have been so destructive. It's really frustrating.

@Roydon Olive I realized as I was going to bed last night that I didn't direct my frustration correctly towards the vandal. Thank you for fixing up their vandalism!

Your change created so much extra work fixing all the bus routes in and out of Kildonan Place.

This "no left turn" doesn't exist on this intersection. The "no left turn" sign is attached to the traffic signal pole, showing that the traffic signal cut in the median is for buses existing the bus plaza.

It also makes no sense to add a "no left turn" restriction while still keeping the one-way median cut-through.

Hey, thank you so much for catching that!

Thanks mate! Really appreciate that

That's a great idea. I will make that change.

The legal description is not the usual axles. It is 6 total tyres. From the bylaw quoted in the changeset source:

"No person shall operate a truck or truck tractor, which has more than six tires, along Jubilee Avenue, unless the vehicle is conducting business on Jubilee Avenue or on streets in the vicinity of Jubilee Avenue where Jubilee Avenue is the shortest routing to or from a Truck Route."

Signage at the on-ramps has an indicator for "Yes trucks" with a placard for "Max 6 tires"

I know that nowhere else in the world uses maxtyres, which is why I also tagged it with hgv=no, since that seems like the closest tag that's actually in use that won't get people in trouble with the law.

Hey Spacelist, in OpenStreetMap, if a name can be spelled without an abbreviation, we don't abbreviate it. Computers can easily shorten words, but not the other way. (The most common example there is that St would be Street or Saint)

osm.wiki/Abbreviations has more guidelines.

Hi JiahuiY, you're continuing to move roads without aligning your editor to GPS traces.

I already asked you in changeset/155082621 to align your editor's offset using GPS traces.

These roads are already very very well placed and surveyed, including the Trans-Canada Highway in this changeset. It did not suddenly move by 5 or 10 metres.

These changes are also failing this automated validation that we have set up: https://ptna.openstreetmap.de/results/CA/MB/CA-MB-WT-Analysis.html

Hi! Those bus route names are explicitly chosen to be descriptive. The 'name' field of the bus route should follow a specific format and is not the official name of the bus route. That comes from the guidance at osm.wiki/Buses

The actual route name is already stored in gtfs:route_long_name which gets automatically updated from Winnipeg Transit's own data every 3 months. The route number is stored in gtfs:route_id

The idea behind that guideline was to make route relations discernible whenever an editor or a changeset page on osm.org displays a list of relations. For this one feature type only, we're supposed to use the name tag to describe the feature. Apps don't actually use the `name` field on bus routes.

Hi JiahuiY! It looks like you moved Plessis Road about 10 metres west of where it was. However, it doesn't seem like that matches with GPS traces.

I want to confirm with you: when you move highways, do you align your background images with GPS traces first? Bing Maps in particular are not usually accurately positioned, at least around the Winnipeg area.

Thanks again @fudoreaper for catching this.

Oh, awesome. Thank you! I'm quite embarrassed now with the assumptions I made! Thanks for updating the map and for responding!

Hi! Welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Is the slip lane from northbound St Mary's Road onto eastbound Dakota Street really gone? I know that the City has been redoing that intersection recently, but I'm always surprised when the City agrees to remove a slip lane.

If it is truly gone, there's also a turn restriction at the intersection itself (relation/6966074) that should be removed, and I suppose that the crosswalk across the former slip lane should also be cleaned up.

I see that you're new to editing OpenStreetMap! Again, welcome. I'm happy to show you how to make those additional changes, or just make the changes myself once I go see them in person, if that's easier for you.

Hey, no worries! I figured it was something like a mistap or choosing the next option in the list accidentally, but I also didn’t want to just change it without checking in ☺️

I love to see these kinds of surveys! Thanks for doing it! We need more of this in Winnipeg :D
