| 126863192 | Thanks for commenting, I'm new and have been trying to learn how to use OSM by mapping areas I'm strongly familiar with (this YMCA and local schools I've attended, for example) to get used to using the system. I've been referencing other people's edits and reading forums/watching tutorials to find something that I need. One thing I've noticed is that certain specifics often use other tags, such as seeing a town green being marked as a park. When I was mapping the middle school in Norfolk, I marked the courtyard in the middle of the building as a community garden, not out of any malicious intent, but rather because that's the first thing that comes up after typing in "courtyard." I've also nominated this spot you mentioned on the Niantic Wayfarer - It's a memorial sitting area with an open space, two benches, with some flowers and other shrubbery for decoration. I didn't want to exclude it in order to help guide those with disabilities using OSM-based services, but couldn't think of anything else to call it, so I just tagged it as a community garden. All that being said, is there a proper tag I should be using for this type of feature? I know that it is in my power to set custom tags, but I have avoided doing so to prevent inconsistencies with other edits (for example, using words like "Forest" while others use "Woods") Although on this specific point I can't find a name I think fits. I'm open to any suggestions, so please don't hesitate to point things out |
