| 112925413 | Hi joel56dt, Yesterday, when I drove eastbound on Fraser Highway and made a left turn northbound into Blue Jay, I had to negotiate the newly constructed kerb that separated the single lane left-turn lane from the three lanes of eastbound traffic. I also had to avoid the orange construction signs that marked the new construction. The turn lane was drawn as a separate way precisely because they are divided by a newly constructed kerb. Sincerely

Thanks for the updates. I was mapping turn restrictions using outdated imagery.

My browser still showed the old geometry from browser cache until I forced a refresh. Please use a hard refresh" (e.g. Ctrl-F5 or Shift-F5 or Shift-Command-R as appropriate on your browser). Alternatively, use iD editor by clicking "Edit" then "B" to select more recent imagery such as "Maxbox Satellite" or "Maxar Premium Imagery (Beta)" or "Maxar Standard Imagery (Beta)" to verify my edits.

I have a question about node/7596561337 which you tagged as amenity=monastery with name="Metal hazard". I do not recall seeing a monastery in this marine location off East Beach in White Rock. Did you mean a type of seamark instead?

I have a question about node/7603794612 which you tagged as amenity=monastery with name="Km 1 , 196 m". I do not recall seeing a monastery at this location. Did you mean highway=milestone instead?

The following wiki entry might help:

| 70426289 | I used namespace convention to tag a shop that seems primarily a convenience store, but also sells trophies and engraving. See:

Hi, Much time has passed since I was in Anchorage, so I cannot remember the reason for leisure=common instead of other tags. Your comment is well taken about the tags that could bear improvement for those particular features. However, using highway=pedestrian with area=yes for way/488333536/history would incorrectly imply walking access to the garden beds planned with trees. Would you agree that this feature might be better represented by using leisure=park instead of leisure=common and instead tagging the multipolygon relation/7171760/history with highway=pedestrian with area=yes? In the spirit of Openstreetmap, please feel free to make any changes that you feel are appropriate. P.S. I do not regard leisure=common as controversial in a city. Have you been to Boston Common? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Common

This is an alley built with concrete steps. The best tag would be highway=steps, but it is also an alley, hence tagged using namespace convention with highway:service=yes and service=alley since it connects to a much flatter section which is traversible by car. I recently returned from vacation in Fira, Santorini, which is a historic Greek city built on the steep edge of an active caldera. Like most of the small streets of this city, this way is an narrow alley with steps down a steep incline. Travel by possible by foot, and donkey,. There could be a very slow bumpy ride by ATV and motor scooter, but not practical by car or truck.Beyond the steps, the alley levels out and is traversible by car. Frustratingly, most streets are also unnamed.

You have added the wrong name to private service driveways that bear no name. Please revert changeset/47439715.
|
You made an error by deleting [way/351273044 containing Nodes 3103021611 and 3103021608]. This feature is a left- turn only lane with a separate traffic signal, and is separated the southbound lanes by a traffic island. Please revert your edit and stop vandalizing the map especially for areas that you do not have personal knowledge.

I am unaware of any current imagery for the new construction. The parking lot was mapped by car using GPS traces recorded with OSMand. The buildings were mapped by interpolation within the traces, per osm.wiki/Recording_GPS_tracks. The GPS tracks were connected to existing roads that were aligned to mapbox imagery.

This area used to be a trailer park. It is now a townhouse complex under development http://onni.com/allwoodplace/. The following ways were traced from out-of-date Bing 2010 imagery but they have been demolished: 481542667, 481542666, 481542665, 481542664, 481542663. The current status can be verified by groundtruth survey and by comparison with Abbotsford municipal GIS http://maps.abbotsford.ca

The barrier is a fence across the entire 3m width of the path. one end of the fence is a cycle barrier. The rest of the fence is locked chain-link gate. I will retry with a different set of tags.

My handheld GPS receiver seems reliable for open sky and continuous motion. However, traces near buildings or under thick foliage seem to suffer multipath inaccuracies. So, I use GPX primarily for trails and roads, and not for buildings. Popular trails can be check against Strava Slide http://labs.strava.com/slide For buildings, the BC Mosaic (imagery credited to city of Surrey) compiled by Paul Norman has high resolution and is the most useful, albeit slightly dated. Mapbox at a lower zoom level is slightly more recent. The most recent imagery for this area is Airphoto 2015 from City of Abbotsford GIS http://maps.abbotsford.ca. Alas, Paul Norman has replied that he has no immediate plans to incorporate Airphoto 2015 into BC Mosaic. Features from survey can be checked for errors against official sources such as City of Abbotsford GIS or UFV http://www.ufv.ca/operations/floor-plans or even the Fire Plans on various buildings.

Hi Alan Trick, I reverted the tags to building=detached in order to distinguish between freestanding homes and semi-detached homes. For examples, see near 2171 Sandalwood Cres. Verify against Abbotsford GIS http://maps.abbotsford.ca Also, I have resolved some mis-salignments by using high-resolution BC Mosaic imagery instead of low resolution Bing imagery. If using iD editor, keyboard shortcut "B" brings the pop-up options for Background imagery.
