I see what you mean now, these are actual roads, not hiking trail. I'm not sure how that happened. I've reverted the name changes now manually for the ways mentioned. I'll look into the others as well.

This edit started as a small exercise to fill in some gaps using a couple of different sources, but it ended up turning into a much bigger change than I intended. In hindsight, I should have held back.

The main challenge was that the sources conflicted with each other, and it turns out none of them are completely accurate. On top of that, the actual trail organization seems to have some inconsistencies of its own.

The names that I've removed should be in places where the relation did not match the ways.

My plan is to revisit this once the trail’s overall structure is clearer and more stable, ideally when the full route is in place.

While you did mention it on the forum, this was not the topic of the thread. Responding to it there risks derailing the thread. If you feel like the Wikivoyage/OpenStreetMap integration should be questioned, and, if I interpret this correctly, screenshots of Waymarked Trails should be used instead, I would suggest making a different topic for this.

Hi, thanks for the input. These IDs were added to improve data integration with Wikivoyage and other tools that rely on linking OSM features with structured data. This is common practice across many named routes and not unique to this trail. If you believe there's a broader issue with this approach, let's raise it on the tagging list or the relevant proposal thread to get broader community input.

As an alternative, I can add all of the individual stages to wikidata, but I think that’s worse for everyone. I have done this in the past though.

Hey! I’m aware, unfortunately this doesn’t work for Wikivoyage. I have to add the wiki data id for the individual stages if I want the trail to render. It’s a known bug (and workaround). I would very much prefer that as well, but it's the only way to render it on wikivoyage. Superroutes don't render unless the individual stages are also tagged with the wikidata id.
