over 1 year ago | Hey David, this is Joseph (I attend some of the bike events in La Porte and recognize you). I do a lot of the updates to the map around LP here and just wanted to let you know about some quick tweaks I'm planning to do the things you added to the map. The bikeway down 18th street, I had mapped separately (as you have it mapped) for a couple years, but recently I changed it to be a marked two-way bike lane mapped on the road itself since there was no barrier/separation (I wasn't aware it was still mixed used past I street). Since it is mixed-use I'll update it to be a mixed use instead of cyclepath and add in the connections to I street and Andrew to help with routing, and then I'll remove the bike lane I mapped down 18th Street so it doesn't mess up routing or have two objects representing one thing. I'm going to remove the name of the new lane as well unless it's offially signed/called that, as it seems more informal/descriptive than should be for a "name" tag here on OpenStreetMap. Other than that on the way/1092450417 (way/1092450417) I'm going to remove the non-descriptive name Farmland from that (it's already mapped as a farmland relation, the editor just doesn't show that a relation exists well sometimes) Let me know if you want to go over these edits further, or feel free to comment on this or my update changeset for further discussion. I do want to say thank you so much for the edits, it'd be awesome to have more up to date bike and pedestrian infrastructure mapped around here, I appreciate the edit and hope you keep up your mapping!
about 2 years ago | Just to fully sanity check, this morning, I went and surveyed and can confirm the road is closed with barriers, still torn up and has no surface. I checked intersections at Madison, Clear Lake Blvd, and Hoelocker and confirmed the road status at each. I go past the road each day, I'll make sure it's marked open as soon as construction is complete.
about 2 years ago | This road construction is not yet finished, and is still entirely closed. I'm going to revert this.

over 2 years ago | Hello again, as of earlier this week, the road appears to be temporarily open, though the bike lane is still incomplete, I've updated the map to match the current status. So you can feel free to disregard my prior message. Thank you!
over 2 years ago | Hi! I just surveyed this road yesterday, from mcclung road side, and from hoelocker drive side, and confirmed that it is still closed from both sides (and still under active construction). Just wanted to ask why you marked it as complete?
over 2 years ago | Sorry about the changeset comment! It autofilled my last one. This changeset actually involves sidewalks down pine lake ave in la porte and details on marinas and parks against pine lake.
over 3 years ago | ...of any park by that name, only park signed in the area is "Kesling Park"
over 3 years ago | Hi, Nice to see someone else mapping in the area! I was wondering where you got your added information from. I couldn't find any indication that the actual park is named "Kesling Park Walking Trail", and the signage seems to indicate it all just being part of the singular Kesling Park. That’s why previously I moved the park name to the trail instead of splitting it into separate parks. Also, from all the info I could find, the tennis courts and baseball diamonds (not the softball diamonds though) seem to be fully fenced off and owned by the school system, not Kesling Park / City. That’s why I marked it earlier to be part of the school grounds. Let me know what you think, or if you have any additional notes to share! Thank you!
